Monday Night's Outing

I was having a quiet evening when Lisa called. Anthony had hurt his foot over the weekend and it was really bothering him and Lisa was trying to get him to go to the hospital to get it looked at, so I offered to drive them. The wait wasn't too long. Lisa and I ran to Tim Horton's to get coffees, and then we all hung out and read for a while. Scott had lent me Lone Wolf and Cub Vol. 1 by Kazuo Koike. I read the whole thing. It was very good. Only 14 more volumes to go to finish the series - if I can get my hands on them. We managed to get home by midnight, which isn't too bad for a visit to the emergency room. I've certainly spent a lot longer there, waiting to get in. It turns out that Anthony sprained his ankle and needs a splint for it. Poor fella.

For those of you who are reading this and are fans of Lord of the Rings, the trailer for Return of the King can be found on the official website - and it looks AWESOME!

A Mellow Day

Last night I found a few more items to put in my portfolio, then didn't feel like working on the site anymore. Scott dropped by and we played Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers on PS2. We took turns and managed to get a fair ways in to the game. I even got a rating of Excellent for killing the Cave Troll in Moira!

It's another quiet day at work today. I was supposed to have a meeting this morning with a co-worker in Halifax, but the city is essentially shut down because of Hurricane Juan, which visited them last night. I gave my folks a quick call this morning to see if they were all right. Thankfully all is well with them. Some of their neightbors lost some pretty big trees, and the power is out, but that's about it.

Rockin'

Last night Tom stopped by for a while, and I made plans to go out with Melanie and John. While I was waiting for them to gather everyone together and head out, I played GTA for a while, watched The Godfather Part II, and a new episode of Sex and the City. I knew it'd be a while but frankly, it was a bit too long a wait. At about 12:30, I heard from Melanie and John and we headed down to Darcy Farrows. I got there and realized that I didn't feel like being out at all. I didn't want a drink, and didn't feel like dancing, so I left. I called it a night.

The makeup crew and a fun and quite productive meeting this morning. I'm looking forward to the show. It'll be one busy busy week! This afternoon I went to see The Rundown. I quite enjoyed it. I have to admit I have a bit of a soft spot for action-comedys. It looks like it'll be a quiet evening in....

Ahh... the weekend...

Friday night went well. I had a tasty dinner with Lisa and then we headed to Marzena's to hang out with the rest of the makeup crew and watch Guys & Dolls. Wow - Marlon Brando singing and dancing was an odd sight to behold. Then Lisa and I hopped in a cab and headed over to the cast & crew get-together at the Somerset Pub. I think Lisa managed to get one karioke song in.

Today I ran errands then took a nice long nap on the couch. I just woke up at 8PM. Wow. Where did the day go? Hmm... might work on my site tonight. There isn't much going on. A bunch of my friends are out of town.

Busy as a bee... and loving it

Well, not really at work. Things are still a bit slow on that front, but it'll pick up soon enough. Outside of work, I'd like to think that I'm trying to balance my social life and the projects I'm working on. But in reality, it's more a question of how can I squeeze everything in. I am a social creature. I love hanging out with friends, and I usually tend to overbook myself with social activites. And, of course, I need to make time to work on my projects, otherwise they'd never get done. Maybe it's less a question of balancing between projects and social commitments, and more a question of balancing them on top of each other... while riding a unicycle (I always wanted one when I was a kid). When I think back to my childhood, I never really was one to sit still anyway. I have a hard time being lazy and boredom only came about once every year or two. At which point I'd complain to my mother, and she'd suggest one of a myriad of chores. Yeesh! No wonder I managed to find something to occupy myself with.

Yes, I am busy. I almost always have something on the go. There have been a few times that I've just kept myself socially busy, but then I'd come to realise that I had nothing to show for that time. I like to feel productive. I like to exercise my creative side. I can't imagine spending my evenings just sitting around watching TV day after day. I prefer to live my own life, than to live vicariously through Television. Now that's not to say that I don't watch any TV. I do enjoy the odd show here and there. Just not all the time. At least I'm doing things and living my life and having fun!

A Night Off

That right. I took last night off from working on my site. I didn't even turn my home computer on. It was a much-need break. I spend far too much time sitting in front of a computer, hunched over the keyboard and staring at the screen.

Instead, I stared at the screen of my television, hunched over my PS2 controller, and played Grand Theft Auto:Vice City. I haven't gamed too much in a while. I managed to take a bit of a break from it this summer. So I'd forgotten just how addictive it was.

5.5 weeks to go...

...until halloween! Yay! Well, it looks as though I have one party to go to on that Saturday night! I'll have to re-visit an old costume. My budget (and time) is too tight for a new one. I'll have to wait until next year to make a new costume... :-(

It turned out to be a busy day...

I had a meeting that lasted most of the afternoon, and then spent my evening watching rehearsal for Act 1 of Guys and Dolls, as I'm working on the makeup crew. Wow - I don't envy them, having put in something like 9 weeks of rehearsal so far. I am really looking forward to the show - it should be awesome!!!

Yes indeed

I ran a few errands last night and scanned in some artwork for my portfolio section. Nothing too exciting. I have to admit, I'm a big fan of using the drop-off service at my local laundromat. I remember the days when I used to spend a couple of valuable hours doing my laundry myself, but now for practically the same price ($5 per bag) I can drop it off, and pick it up the next day all folded and clean.

Weeee.... Monday!

Yep. I'm a little tired today. I think I may have to go home and nap at lunch. I stayed up until 2 AM last night working on my site - trying to get the photos section complete and getting everything posted. Had a llittle trouble getting up this morning...

So this evening, I think I'll work on my portfolio section. I still have to gather and organize the content for it. It looks like there will be a fair amount of stuff.

Yawn... *stretch*

I did stay up pretty late Friday night working on the photos section for this site. That didn't stop me from getting up early Saturday morning. I headed off to Fredericton with Tom (my cubicle buddy) to do "the circuit". First stop was the Fredericton market for a bite to eat. We then stood in line for a bit to pick up a few samosas to take home, but by the time we could see the counter, we noticed that there were only vegetarian ones left. Dang! Next stop was StrangeAdventures. It was all I could do not to buy about 10 comics! I always get inspired when I stop in there. But, I'm trying to stick to my budget so I am glad that I managed to get out of there without purchasing anything. Let's see... after that, we headed to Chapters. Man, I love Chapters. I really wish we'd get one in Saint John. We have a couple of Coles books, but they're so limited. I know I can order books online, but there's something about wandering about a large bookstore that just makes my day. Oh, and we made a point of stopping into Toys'r'us (of course). I think we spent a good half hour oohing and aahing over action figures. All in all, it was a great little foray away from Saint John, even though it was raining. We joked that the "Rain Gods" were playing with us - because it'd start to clear up as we'd get out of the car to go into a store, but as soon as we came back out, the sky would open up and we'd get caught in the deluge! Doh!

Last night was Lisa's Murder-Mystery party. It was fun. I even managed to correctly guess who the culprit was. My character was pretty bland, actually. She didn't have much to say, which was just as well, since I was pretty tired. (I didn't have time for a nap between the trip to Fredericton and the party.) We hung out for a while after, but I was having trouble staying awake so I left early. Mmmm.... sleep... good!

I'm going to go check out "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" with Scott this afternoon. I've been looking forward to seeing it.

An exciting Friday evening...

After a late and truely fun evening yesterday, I was a little tired by the time I got off work, so I came home and took a little nap - for FOUR hours!!! Then I got up and decided to work on my site a bit more. I'm in the midst of building the photos section...

I'm looking forward to tomorrow evening. Lisa is hosting a Murder-Mystery party, and it should be a blast. My character, Zenia, should be fun to play. I get to get dressed up for a second time this week - yay!

Maritime Vegas Party was great!

I had a blast last night! The show was a hit. We had a good-sized crowd of folks who were very spirited. I can't wait to see the pictures from the show. (Unlike a lot of my friends, I do not have a digital camera yet. One of these days I'll get one....) I'm already looking forward to the next show... whenever that may be.

Looking forward to tonight...

I'm back at work today. And - I actually have some interesting stuff to work on, so that should keep me going for a bit! :-)

I am really looking forward to tonight. I'll be helping out with a Maritime-Vegas-style show. I'll be like one of Barker's Beauties. My character is named "Luscious Lola", which is the name of my car (no, I don't name all of my appliances!) I've pretty much got the outfit all figured out - I just need to pick up a couple small things at lunch to complete it. Hmm... I might try and take a short lunch too, so I can leave a bit early and have enough time to get ready for the show...

Dang. I hate being sick.

I made it half way through the work day yesterday. It started off feeling like allergies, but then it got a whole lot worse. I went home at lunch, feeling like crap, and slept all afternoon. Sigh. So I am home today as well, trying to recouperate. I'll post more when I'm feeling better.

Thanks guys!

Thanks to Scott and Terry for helping with stuff on my site!!

I've also managed to get a lot of other stuff done this evening - I finally finished cleaning out my filing cabinet - YAY! Now I'd really love to work on other areas of the site that are still incomplete. Hmm...getting late though. Maybe I'll just work on it for a bit...

Welcome to my new site!

OK, I admit it's not finished, but at least I've got something up. I still have to add comments, and get the archive working. Then I need to add my portfolio and photos sections... there is a lot left to do on those!

Yes, I had an exciting weekend, mostly working on my site. I spent Friday night in, building pages for the portfolio section. I then got up nice and early Saturday morning to continue working on it. That afternoon I headed over to Scott and Karen's to use their driveway so I could wash my car. Hmm... that took a little bit longer than I'd anticipated. My car was covered in tree sap, so I had to scrub it clean. That stuff doesn't come off very easily. I also took the time to wax it and fix the paint chips. Oh, and I decided to replace the emblem on the front (the damn bastards who stole the original one took a big chip out of the paint when they ripped it off the front of my car). Then I cleaned out the inside. By the time I was done, Scott and Karen were preparing supper, and invited me to stay. That was a nice little break. I then went home for the evening to continue working on my site. Yee haw.

Sunday didn't start off very well at all. I decided to work on the photos section for this site, and tried to scan something in, but - lo and behold - my scanner wasn't working. So I thought I may as well get my journal up and running. Rory had set up Movable Type for me to use - but I'll be darned if I could figure out how to use it. Also, the help pages weren't working on their site, which was no help at all. By lunch time, I was ready to throw my computer out the window. Talk about frustrated. After venting to Scott for a bit on MSN, he offered to come over after supper to help me out. I figured that was the opportune time to tackle my filing cabinet, and the huge pile of papers that has been growing next to it for the last 6 - 10 months. I had a nice little break mid-afternoon where I headed over to the Saint John Theatre Company loft for a makeup meeting for Guys and Dolls. I'm really looking forward to working on the show! After the metting, I returned home to continue tackling the filing. The next thing I knew, the doorbell rang - and it was Scott. I still had papers everywhere. Ah well. I'll finish sorting that stuff soon enough. Scott brilliantly fixed my scanner problem. Yay! Then, he stuck around to help me get my journal working. Rory informed me that I could use Blogger, so the rest of the evening was spent trying to get this page working. Hours of frustration ensued as we tried to get Blogger to work. Somewhere between 1 and 2 AM, a weary Scott stumbled home (thanks again for all your help and patience!!). So, finally, here it is. OK, minus the comments and archives, but at least it's a start. Whew!!
