TGIF

I had time to have dinner out with my mom last night. We went to Beatty & The Bistro (which is too overpriced by the way) and had some salmon. We got chatting with our waitress, who - as it turns out, also went to NSCAD. She studied photography but didn't get a chance to finish her degree. Nice girl. She's excited about her new job she's about to start: she'll be working at Handworks. Small world, eh?

I was pretty exhausted yesterday. It felt like a SUPER long day at work and by the time I got to rehearsal I was ready to drop. They had already worked on a scene I wasn't in, so when I go there, we got started on detail work for scene 7. Thank you Stephen for not pushing me too hard last night. I'll be prepared to do a rockin' job on that scene when we get to it next week!

After rehearsal, I stopped in at the B&B to see my mom and aunt Jessie. It was great to see them - although it certainly didn't feel long enough. They walked me home and I was so tired I don't even remember falling asleep - it must have been as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I've made reservations tonight for mom, Jessie, Colin and I to go to Suwanna's for a nice Thai dinner. I am really looking forward to the weekend - it's been an extra-long week.

Visiting Relatives

Rehearsal went quite well last night. I think after a day of trying to be nice and polite at work (and sitting for many hours in a row) it was a nice treat to be able to move around and be in character and be able to yell and scream and whatever else Stella needs to do.

It's another long day at work. Mom is coming in by bus and should arrive at 2. Colin is going to pick her up. Mom and I should be able to have supper together before I head off to rehearsal. Then Colin (thanks sweetie!) will take mom out to the airport and they'll pick Jessie up when she comes in from Saskatoon this evening. When I'm done rehearsal, I'll hopefully have some time to hang out with them for a bit. I can't wait to see Mom and Jessie!!

I got my taxes done

Well, mostly. I still have one more form to fill ot for studioDRE. I'm thankfull I don't owe as much as last year. That was painful. I can't wait to get all of this cleared up and done with.

I also can't believe that it's almost May. And here we are still getting forecasts of flurries. Yeesh. Well - I have been told that it's nicer out today but I haven't had a chance to get outside except for heading to work early this morning.

More rehearsals this evening. And more leftovers tonight. Wheeee...... it's been a long yet busy week with 10 hour work days, evening rehearsals and short lunches and only about an hour for supper :P

By the way - thanks to everyone for all the well-wishes! I'm so thankful I have such good friends!

Yup. Busy.

Now that rough blocking is over and done with, we are moving on to the next stage in our rehearsal process for Streetcar. We aren't off bok yet - that'll be next week. This week we are doing detail work.

Uber-busy week

Work is stressful. I'm pretty fortunate actually - it could be a lot worse. I'm working 10-hour days with a couple of scheduled 15 minute breaks and 1/2 hour for lunches. That doesn't exactly leave me much time to get to the gym. I'll have to try to make it in the mornings I suppose. I have rehearsals that start at about an hour after work Monday to Thursday. (I wonder when I'll find time to get my taxes done this week. Eek.) This is our last week before we have to be off book.

An Old Friday Five

1. What was the last TV show you watched?
Colin taped Las Vegas for me and we watched it last night.

2. What was the last thing you complained about?
The escalators in Brunswick Square are being worked on again. It seems like they are always being worked on. This morning I complanied to a co-worker about this.

3. Who was the last person you complimented and what did you say?
I told a co-worker that they looked nice this morning.

4. What was the last thing you threw away?
An empty Tim Horton's coffee cup.

5. What was the last website (besides this one) that you visited?
Wil Wheaton dot net.

Rehearsal went well last night. We finished early enough that I was able to spend the rest of my evening working on my lines. I'm a bit surprised at how much I already know. My lines make a lot of sense for the most part so they're pretty easy to get to know.

It's a busy day at work today and I'll even be working through lunch. Yee-ha. The boil order is gone so I can get the half-coffee + half-hot chocolate from Tim Horton's that I usually like to get on my morning coffee breaks. I can't wait till their roll-up-the-rim-to-win contest is over with so I'll hopefully be able to stop buying morning coffees.

Tonight is the Fusion launch upstairs at Tapps at 5. I'm going to head over and check it out with Lisa before we head to the gym. I'm guessing that the rest of my evening (other than a break for watching Survivor) will be spent working on Streetcar.

This is scary:

Passwords revealed by sweet deal. More than 70% of people would reveal their computer password inexchange for a bar of chocolate, a survey has found.

A Quiet Day

Yesterday I had a long day at work and then a quiet evening. I had a long nap and then worked on my Streetcar lines for a bit before going back to bed. I'm feeling better today. It must be all of the vitamin C I've been taking.

Ack *cough*

Last night was the Rough Blocking rehearsal for Blanche and Stella. It was a lot of hard work. We're not off-book yet so we're still carrying our binders of lines around as we try to figure out how we should be moving about, so things are feeling pretty awkward. I have a ton of homework to do. And now this morning I woke up with a cold. Sigh. I guess my evening will consist of napping, soup, and homework - or at least trying to prepare for tomorrow's rehearsal.

What Kind Are You?

Eek! It looks like I'm "The Battleaxe" (Deliberate Brutal Love Master)

"Sharp. Hardened. Dominating. The Battleaxe sweeps all before her, smiting and what not.

You've had a number of serious relationships, so you obviously have many attractive qualities. You're well experienced in dealing with other people's weirdnesses, and it's likely you're good in bed by now, too. Also, like the drunken housewife chucking Heinekens at her no-good husband, you've got a lot of energy.

People can tell you're sophisticated, and so you find yourself the object of infatuations quite often. But it's how you handle yourself in your relationships that gets you the 'brutal' tag. Controlling? Imperious? Overbearing? Yes, please.

Remarkably, you don't mind the same from your men. You've experience enough to take whatever you dish out. Overall, you're a very good person and a capable lover, and when the time comes you'll make a fine divorcee.

ALWAYS AVOID: The Poolboy
CONSIDER: The False Messiah, someone just like you."

Spring has sprung

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night, after a full workout, I headed over to Handworks to meet up with Colin. They had a gallery opening for 'Earthenware' (new works by potter Darren Emenau). Colin and I headed to Taco Pica for supper, and then we went back to my place to watch an episode of Dateline about The Apprentice from last week and then the season finale of The Apprentice (which I missed on Thursday while I was at rehearsal). It was cold and raining on Friday evening, and I was feeling a bit worn out from a long week, so I was happy to spend a quiet evening in.

Saturday morning I worked on my script for a bit and then headed out to rehearsals. I was able to leave a bit early because the two scenes I'm not in were saved for the end of the day. I managed to make it to A-Z Rentals before they closed so I could rent a hammer drill so I could hang my IKEA shelving. I went home and made measurements for hanging my shelving, and spent a bit of time looking at my script again. It was another quiet evening, which was just about all I could handle. I was feeling pretty worn out and I couldn't imagine trying to go out anywhere or be social.

It took me pretty much all of Sunday afternoon to hang my shelving - and boy, am I ever glad it's done! Now all of my CD's and Zip disks have a home - and my floor is once again unobstructed. Colin picked me up around supper time and we headed upriver to hang out with Shannon and Cliff, Bill and Dawn, and Ernie and Nelly and Nancy. Colin has been spending some time up there lately, helping Bill clear some bush. We took a bit of a walk on the property to see the work that's been done. They certainly have been busy! The weather was gorgeous so it was a treat to be able to spend a bit of time outside (especially after having been cooped up all day as I hung shelving). We had a delicious barbecued dinner with chicken and pork chops. Man, there's no substitute for the "Q". I don't have the room for a barbecue at my place. (There is a back fire escape, but the garbage chute is attached to it and there isn't really any room.) For dessert, Nelly was thoughtful enough to make a brandy-pudding cake that was lactose-free so I could have some too. Well, it currently tops my list of favourite desserts EVER! Wow! It is Sophia Lauren's favourite dessert and I can see why!

Alas, it is Monday and it's supposed to rain again today. I hope we have a good summer this year. Not like last year - which had something like 3 weeks straight of rain and gloom in the middle of June. I am pleased that I'm not achey today as I thought I would be. I was sure that using the hammer drill and hanging the shelves would have done a number on me but I feel surprisingly okay. I'm looking forward to rehearsal tonight. Tonight is Blanche and Stella: rough blocking. I hope it goes well. It'll be nice to start moving around. :-)

The end of a long short week

Last night at rehearsals, we had some pretty big laughing fits. We got through two of the three scenes we'd intended to work on. Then, instead of having a super-late night of rehearsal, we decided to go for a couple of beers. I'm guessing it'll be a pretty long rehearsal on Saturday afternoon.

Text, text, and more text

Last night, after a quick workout at the gym and reheated supper, I picked Lisa up and we headed off to rehearsal. We did text work for scenes 3 and 4. I got home and went over my notes and then read for a bit. Terribly exciting, no?

Text Work (and not much else)

After a long day at work yesterday, I had just enough time to wash my hair and make and eat a healthy supper. Then it was off to rehearsals to do text work on scenes 1 and 2 for the evening. It looks like things will be pretty busy for the better part of this week.
I hope there will be chairs at rehearsal tonight. No chairs and a lightly carpeted concrete floor are not Dre-friendly. I'll try to remember to bring my camping chair just in case....

A 4-Day Easter Weekend

This was my last "free" weekend before getting deep into rehearsals for Streetcar, so I tried to get as much done as I could. I didn't even game, if you can believe it! I fixed the cracks in my front door and re-painted it inside and out. I touched up the paint in my kitchen and hallway. I cleaned out under my kitchen sink and inside my bathroom cabinets. I even filed all of my papers. I scrubbed and polished and dusted and waxed and organized. It was a major spring-cleaning and it felt great to get it done! Now all I have left to do is hang my shelving for my CDs, do my taxes, and clean out my car.

The evenings were pretty relaxing this weekend. Thursday night Lisa and Anthony had a few people over for an Easter Party. It was fun and a great chance to relax. I made some rum punch which tuned out OK. I need to find a good recipe for punch. (Any suggestions?) Friday night Colin picked me up after he'd had a long afternoon of chainsawing, and we went upriver for supper. I brought the fixings and made my own salmon dinner while everyone else had pizza. Then we realxed in the hot tub for a bit before calling it a night. Saturday night was a quiet evening in. Colin came over and we made a late yet fancy supper and we watched The Apprentice and Survivor, which he'd taped on Thursday night. Sunday night we decided to go see Walking Tall, starring The Rock. It was OK. Nothing spectacular. Last night was a read-through of Streetcar with an almost-full cast. After the reading, most of us stopped in at Churchills for a drink or two.

This week will be a busy one. We're doing text-work on the play and there's a ton to do.

Sugartastic Dre Shizzle

Last night I managed to eek my way a bit further through FFX. I fear that I'm not even half way yet...

Colin and I had supper at Swiss Chalet. One of the waiters that wasn't serving us recognized us and said hello. Do we eat there too much? After supper, we headed over to the movie theatre and met up with Cliff. We saw HellBoy and we really enjoyed iit. I'm glad I got a chance to see it on the big screen. Great character development, a good story, and lots of well-done special effects!

Nipping It In The Bud

For the past couple of days I've felt as though I have the beginnings of a cold. I'm trying my darndest to do what I can to stop it from happening. So far so good....

Last night, after I enjoyed a long nap, Colin came over and watched The Princess Bride. That's the extent of my evening. Terribly exciting, I know.

Strawberry/Orange/Banana Smoothies - And More!

I forgot to mention that the Superstore on Rothesay Avenue now carries soy ice cream!!! I hadn't had ice cream in years! What a treat!

So last night was the photoshoot at Rob Roy Productions for the posters for Streetcar. Martine, Brian and I got all fixed up in our period outfits - which were pretty cool. They took a number of different photos because they're not sure yet what they'll be using. I hope everything turned out well. I'd tell you more but I don't want to give anything away... I can't wait to see what they use!

I had leftovers for supper and got back to playing FFX. Colin came over a bit later to hang out and read while I continued to try to make my way through FFX.

I woke up this morning (after having slept right through both of my alarms) feeling pretty run down, so I grabbed some freshly-squeezed OJ, and a strawberry/orange/banana smoothie (Yum!!) from the market and took a bunch of echinacea and vitamin C. I hope I feel better soon!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

At least when it snows this time of year, we don't have to worry about it sticking around for long. I'm just tired of te slush and winter boots and bundling up. Sigh.

Sue and Jed were visiting on the weekend so I got a chance to see them and hang out with Sue and Jesse for a while on Friday night. I introduced Sue to Champions of Norrath for the PS2.

Saturday was a busy day. I made it to the gym for 8:30 AM. At 10, Colin and I met up with a couple of his friends for breakfast. At 11:30, I did Lisa's makeup and lent her one of my wigs for the video shoot for Couch Critics. I can't wait to see the finished product! I worked on my script that afternoon, and then Colin and I went out to Superstore and picked up some stuff and together we made a tasty Indian meal. Colin rented 21 Grams - which was quite good, although I found it to be pretty confusing at first. I read for a bit before hitting the hay. That was a nice treat. lately, I've been too tired to do any reading by the time I go to bed.

Sunday morning, I treated Colin to a breakfast at Mike's at the mall. We stopped on Toys'r'us and I picked up a couple more LOTR action figures that I'd been wanting: Sam and Frodo in orc armor. I spent the afternoon playing FFX and going over my lines for Streetcar. After a dinner of leftovers while watching Ian McKellan on Inside the Actor's Studio, I headed out to rehearsal. It as our frst get-together. We read the whole script. I had a good time. There were a lot more laughs in the script than I'd thought there would be.

There was a time change yesterday. So when I got home from rehearsal, just after 11, I was still wide awake. So I decided to play "just a bit more" FFX. Sigh. I was up way too late past my bedtime. Tired today. Oops!

Not much going on and not much to say. I'm eeking my way through FFX bit by bit. Both The Apprentice and Survivor were good last night. Sue and Jed are in town so I'll at least get to see Sue and Jesse this evening. I'm looking forward to our first Streetcar reheasal this weekend!

Hygene

I'm out of the office for most of this week. The building I'm in has signs over each toilet asking people to "please flush after use". It amazes me that they feel that they need to do that! It also surprises me when someone doesn't bother to wash their hands after they've used the washroom. Speaking of hygene - they have a new system for cleaning the machines at Nubody's. They now want members to use paper towels and the spray after they've used a machine - but I'm always amazed by how many people don't bother to clean them! Of course, it doesn't help that the spray bottles have been dissappearing lately - they are far and few between. They need to get thier act in gear at that gym - especially since membership seems to be increasing. Grr.
