Colours

I saw Hero (also known as Ying xiong) last night and I really enjoyed it. I loved how they used colour throughout the film to help tell the story.

So I got a call from Toyota and they have a dark blue (indigo) Matrix XR with B package that's a manual if I am interested, and I am. So I guess I'll be popping out to Toyota after work tomorrow to trade in Lola, my Echo :-)

Not Enough Time

Friday I hung out with my friend Keith for a bit. Saturday I had a great workout at the gym, went to the mall for a bit, then had a nap, then headed to Julie's going-away party. Sunday was brunch with friends, and taking it easy at home, then Jay popped in to watch Top Secret!. And if you were wondering- I didn't game at all. Still, the weekend was too short.

TGIF

I am thankful that I have a 2-day weekend coming up. I find that just having one day off makes for an extremely long week the following week.

Last night was quiet - I basically spent the evening puttering about my place and then gaming for a little bit before calling it a night. I got in a DVD I'd ordered online - Top Secret! starring Val Kilmer, made in 1984 by the same folks who made Airplane!. Great stuff - very funny. I'd been talking to Jay about it and he hasn't seen it yet so we'll be able to sit down and have a laugh together one of the nights he has a bit of free time between Our Town rehearsals. We also have some INXS stuff to catch up on. :-)

Like I mentioned I gamed for a bit before hitting the hay (FFXI of course). All I wanted to do was to put a couple of items up for sale at the AH (Auction House). Unfortunately, there is a small fee of only a few gil to put something up for sale, and I didn't even have that. I decided to try fishing for a bastore sardine - then I could trade that in to an NPC (non-player character) for 70 gil (and some fame) and then I'd be able to put my stuff up for sale at the AH. Thing is, I only had 3 lugworms, couldn't afford more, and recently I've been having all sorts of bites but I keep losing my catch. Oh well, I decided I'd give it a shot anyway. Didn't I spend 20 minutes (IRL - in real life time) not catching anything before I finally caught a bastore sardine. Once I made it back to the AH and put my stacks of earth and wind crystals up for sale, I decided to call it a night.

I had a very intense dream just before I woke up this morning. It was weird because it seemed so real - I'd managed to fill in all sorts of details - and I can still remember it. Like pretty much all of my dreams, it was an action-adventure and in this one I was a secret agent undercover and I needed to get information from my source, Elizabeth Chase (I wonder what info I would have needed from her?). I'd managed to convince her to have lunch with me - and we were in an executive cafeteria - where all the surfaces were covered in boiler plate steel, but some things were trimmed in cherry wood. It was dark and my time was running out. Serving food at the cafeteria was Peter Jackson (director of LOTR)and I went to ask him if he was filming this but as I got up close, it turned out to be Csaba (from work) and I'd just mistaken him for Peter Jackson because of his scruffy beard. He was about to tell me how to get the info I needed when my alarm woke me up. Man, I wish I'd known what info I was looking for. It seemed like a good dream.

Must... have... patience....

So I got a call from Toyota. The car I am looking for is a Matrix XR with package B, in black. There is one being shipped to a dealer in PEI and it's due to get there September 3rd. If they don't want to hang on to it, I can get it. Otherwise, I guess we have to keep looking. Sigh.

LVL 8 WHM

After a great workout at the gym, I got home, scarfed down some leftovers, and then settled in to game with Lisa. We levelled together - and it was great fun. Once we'd both levelled, I took my character back into town to fish for a bit. And that was my evening.

Headache continues

Yep. Still have it. And because of it I didn't make it to the gym last night. I napped instead, which helped a bit. I tried out lemongrass (newish restaurant down the street) again and liked it a bit better this time. And - I have leftovers for supper tonight!

All is quiet in the land of Dre.

Car Shopping

My lease for my car is up this fall and I've been looking at leasing a new one. I made a list of must-have's and nice-to-have's and searched online for what I was looking for within my budget. I went out with a friend to do a bit of test-driving last night, and it turns out that I'm going to stay with Toyota and get a Matrix XR. I can't wait!

Headache

They cleaned the carpets in the office yesterday and I think I have a bit of an allergy to the cleaning chemicles. Man - I have one nasty headache today and Advil Extra-Strength certainly isn't helping.

Had a slight headache all weekend and was still feeling a bit run down so took it easy for the most part. Visited (but did not participate in)Anthony's "Century party" Friday night and left early. Saturday morning I went to the gym but that got cut short thanks to the overwhelming smell from a funky salad I'd left in my gym bag from the week before last - so I went home and hand-washed the bag and gym clothes. It was disgusting - the salad had liquified. Then met Colin for brunch and helped him pick out a DVD player from FutureShop. Then home to nap and Dave called so we planned a quiet date for that evening. Sunday I slept in, flipped channels, napped, went for a short trip rollerblading with Anthony, napped again, grabbed Swiss Chalet for dinner, then spent the evening gaming.

Leveling Up

Aside from leveling up my charcters skills in FFXI, I managed to level up some of my physical skills a bit in real life last night by going blading with Anthony. It made me think about some of the other stuff I'd like to spend some time working on, so I may make a point to do that this weekend. I'm not sure what my plans are for the weekend. I think it may be a fairly quiet one overall. I plan to get to the gym and try and get a few things done around the house at the very least. I know there are a few social gatherings going on as well and I may pop in and make a cameo or two. I should also spend a bit of time working on the project I've got going with Terry. No doubt it'll turn into a busy weekend in the end...

More Mellowness

OK. Dinner with Lisa, followed by a cancelled meeting with Terry meant I was able to take a nap, and that was followed by a bit of FFXI where I raised my fishing skill by .4 - and that makes for a mellow evening - which is exactly what I needed.

I came across the Sev series of comic strips today, which are quite geeky and amusing.

Shoulda booked a day off

It's only Wednesday and I'm already looking forward to the weekend - not a good sign.
I saw De-Lovely last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I must've been tired cause I found it long. I didn't have the energy to game when I got home. I'm hoping to be able to get back to the gym tonight. It has been a week and a half since I've gone and I miss it. I'm also hoping that it'll help give me some of the energy I've been missing.

Mellow

I just took it easy last night and had some Pad Thai from Quality Convenience and gamed for a bit (FFXI) before making it an early night.

Recouperating

It was a full weekend, what with the plays and all. No, I didn't make it to breakfast at the cast party (it wasn't a goal of mine) but I had fun nonetheless. I am still paying for my late night or partying. Sunday was a quiet day - I went to see Collateral that evening and enjoyed it quite a bit. Tonight on the agenda is napping and gaming.

Come See Theatre on the Edge

Last night was opening night and it went quite well. We had more people come out than we'd expceted and there were a lot of new faces, which is always nice to see. The shows went pretty well. I hope tonight goes well - I wonder what kind of audience we're going to get....

After the show a number of us went over to the Alehouse for a couple of drinks. It was a nice break.

I am so ready for the weekend.

Opening Night is Tonight!

Last night was our dress rehearsal and it went fairly well - we found a couple things to tweak before tonight. I'm now starting to get excited about the show. I can't believe opening night is already upon us! I think we have a great lineup for this years Theatre on the Edge. I wonder what kind fo crowd we'll get.

I got home from dress rehearsal and gamed for a little bit - FFXI of course. I caught my first fish - moat carp, and I tried cooking my first recipe but it didn't work. After gaming for a little bit, I hit the hay early. I needed the sleep.

From Tech to Dress

Last night was our technichal rehearsal at the Mary Oland Theatre in the NB Museum - which usually consists of a lot of hurry-up-and-wait. Thankfully, we finished ours first so we didn't have to stay too late.

I went home and gamed - taking my LVL 4 WHM and exploring Windhurst and finding missions and quests and using the auction house to sell some acquired goods. Basically - still learning the game. There is a pretty high learning curve to FFXI and there is a ton to do, so it can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I think I may continue to give myself some small goals - like familiarizing myself with different aspects of the game - such as learning to use and program macros, or learning to cook.

I was tired last night and I'm still tired this morning.I think tonight will have to be an early one tonight. This evening is our dress rehearsal, and tomorrow is opening night. I am actually looking forward to the show - it's a very strong line-up and I think it'll make for a great evening out.

Just Another Manic Monday

I had a busy day at work yesterday and then an even busier evening. I grabbed takeout from Mings on my way home from the office (which was of course pre-ordered so it would be ready when I got there) - mmm... fried noodles with shrimp! While I ate supper, I sent the cast and crew bios to Anthony for the programs. Then took a quick shower and washed my hair, and headed to the loft for the run-through with wet hair. We figured out the order of the 3 plays and had a chance to see what everyone else had been working on. After the run, I came home and burned the music for the show to CD then painted the sin-eater's cape to look more worn and watery. I had a couple phone calls to take care of, then by about 11, I was finally ready to do a bit of gaming. Lisa and I quested together. She was helping me power-level. I now have a LVL 4 WHM. I next need to spend a bit of time in town and see what I can do about selling and buying and using some items, and perhaps start learning a craft or two.

More Toys and More

I went rollerblading with Anthony after work on Friday. He was trying out a new pair of blades and I needed to burn off work frustrations. I had thought about seeing Jesus Christ Superstar at KVHS, but I really didn't feel like going, so I didn't. Instead I grabbed a wuick bit to eat at Subway then ran otu to FutureShop and got the stuff I needed to lpay FFXI. Lisa and Anthony help me with setting stuff up. It took the entire evening to set up (including about 3 hours of downloads for the latest version of the game). I also tidied my apartment while things downloaded.

I had to work Saturday (which makes this week seem super-long now cuase one day off does not feel like a weekend). Then I had a tasty dinner at Martine's, and then I had a first date which went rather well - we chatted over a couple of drinks.

Sunday I managed to make the cape for the sin-eater (which I still need to finish up - by painting it) and we had a big rehearsal last ngiht. 'Tis an uber-busy week coming up. I could use a nap...

The Countdown Begins

We are now into our final week of rehearsal for "Theatre on the Edge" and things are starting to ramp up. There's still a lot to do in order to have everything pulled together for opening night next Thursday. From selecting music to go with the show to finalizing costumes and props. It should prove to be a fun yet busy week!

Anime Evening

After work and after the gym, Tom came over and we watched some Last Exile and a bit more Cowboy Beebop. What inspiring illustration work!

Gaming?

I haven't gamed much lately because I've been pretty busy. Last night, for example, I made it to the gym, then rehearsal, and by the time I got home I was too tired to game. Besides, there were other things I'd like to do - like read (since Lisa was kind enough to lend me the 2nd book in Diana Gabaldan's series, and I have 3 Lone Wolf and Cub books that Scott M had lent me that I'd like to get through) or work on character designs for the game Terry, Tom and I are working on, or work on my site, or my photo album.... There just aren't enough hours to the day!

This autumn, a new game is coming out for the Xbox that looks very interesting - Fable. It's an RPG where your character grows up and becomes good or evil depending on the choices you make, and your character will carry scars from battles, etc. I like RPGs - I am fond of having a character that has to collect things and figure things out, and I like when things like outfits can be modified. I also like games that are replayable - when they have more than one way the story can go - a prime example of this is Knights of the Old Republic, and of course, Fable looks like it'll be that way too. As for online gaming, I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. The concept of playing FFXI seems intriguing, yet I'm afraid that I'd get sucked into spending way too much time playing it. :P

What types of games do you like and what do you like about them?

Where is the Summer?

I can't beilieve it's already August. It seems as thought we've ony had a handlful of summer days, of course I may have missed quite a few nice days as I have been working long hours. Well, here's to hoping that we'll have decent weather for August and September.

Island of Relaxation

On Saturday I hopped in the car and drove to PEI to meet up with friends who'd rented an old farmhouse for the weekend. I met up with them at Sandspit. They had already been there for a few hours. As most folks went to play mini-golf, Lisa and I took off to ride a bunch of the rides. After that, we headed back to the farmnouse and barbequed and sat around on the front lawn and in the front porch and had a few drinks. As the night progressed, we managed to haunt Lisa with a creepy doll, and we even wound up playing some improvised games of cards with the "Erotic" card desk that Scott had purchased on his shopping trip earlier that day. Most of the folks hit the hay leaving Lisa, myself, Jeff and Dan's brother Nik up to play Cranium. Lisa and I smoked 'em! I then slept on the pull-out couch (and my back is still trying to recouperate). I decided to head back around lunch time and I gave Nik a lift back to Saint John. Of course, I had to stop in Moncton on my trip and do a bit of shopping. Now I need to find an excuse to wear the fabulous new dress from RW & Co. that I couldn't resist getting!
