A Full Weekend

Friday evening I went to the Imperial to see "Les Portes Tournantes" by the Atlantic Ballet Theatre Company. It was okay - nothing spectacular. The dancing was good, but I wasn't terribly interested in the story, style or music. At least I'd gotten the tickets for free. I mush preferred their production of "Merlin" that they had put on in the Spring.

After the theatre, I got home and worked a bit more on updating the photos section to this site. I finished the section Saturday morning and I was happy to be done with it. The rest of my saturday was fairly quiet - I made it to the gym, ran a few errands and bumped into Lisa and Anthony while I was out by the mall. We had dinner together at Swiss Chalet and I helped them with a bit of running around. Later that evening, I stayed in and watched Shrek 2.

Sunday morning Lisa called and asked for a bit of help with moving. I helped her bring a car load of odds and ends and her cat over to their new place before the movers came. After that, I had breakfast at Reggie's with Colin and David. The corned beef hash at Reggie's is divine!

My Sunday afternoon was spent at the SJTC loft. We were doing readings of original one-act plays. I think we got through about 5 plays, which took a few hours, especially since we had guest ajudicators who took the time to critique them after each reading. After the readings a few of us headed to Mexi's for a bit to catch up. then Jay and I popped in to visit Lisa and Anthony at their new digs. I then went home to play Knights of the Od republic for a bit and then I went to see the late show of Finding Neverland which was awesome - it was well-crafted, touching and beautiful. What a great way to end the weekend!

Photos Section updated

I have updated the photos section to this site. There is a new section titled "2004" and there are new pics in"Theatre" and "Halloween". I have a bit of tweaking to do a a couple of the pages, but I'll get to that later. Enjoy!

Is it Friday already? How'd that happen?

I headed to the gym after work yesterday for a super-upperbody and core workout with my trainer. He has increased the difficulty on a lot of my core exercises because I do need a lot of help there because I have a lot of lower back problems. He is also starting to help prepare me to do my routine on my own. I see him once next week, and then our sessions will slow down to once a month or so for a little re-motivation and maybe a tweak or two to my routine.

After the gym, I met up with Joanna at Lemongrass. It was great to catch up with her - it had been a while. I think we were there for a good 3 hours! My plan after dinner was to go home and work on my photo album some more, but by the time I got home I didn't feel like doing that. Instead I spent a bit of time chatting on the phone and then hit the hay fairly early. It was a nice and relaxing and social evening - just what I needed.

I had planned to take next week off on vacation, but I have some deadlines at work and I still have a lot to do for them, so I am postponing my vacation to the following week. During my time off I plan to make Christmas gifts for my friends and family. I hope it doesn't take me the entire week....

A Quiet Yet Productive Evening

Last night I stayed in and decided to build some photo pages for this site. I will be adding a new section of 2004 photos, and I will be adding photos to the Theatre and Halloween sections. There are quite a few pictures that I still need to add and re-size. When I am done, I'll post them all at the same time.

While I was working on my site, I put on The Chronicles of Riddick in the background. It's the sequel to Pitch Black (which I found a little slow). I quite enjoyed it - and I loved Judy Dench's character - she played an 'elemental' which was pretty cool. And, of course, Karl Urban is in it and did a wonderful job as Vaako. It's always nice to see a bad guy with a bit of dimension. I hadn't seen this movie in the theatres, and what I rented was the director's cut, which included a lot more scenes that fill in a lot of the backstory. It makes me wonder if the theatrical release would have made much sense, when I think of all the scenes that were cut out of it.

Arg

Yesterday my work day few by, and then I made it to the gym for a nice round of cardio and a core workout. When I got home, after I made a quick supper, I started going through my photos from the last year and started organizing them. When I got tired of that, I popped over to Lisa & Anthony's to do a bit of socializing and check out Halo 2 and Crimson Skies. That was fun - I hadn't gamed in a number of weeks. Thankfully I didn't stay too late, and I made it home at a decent hour, but I still had trouble getting up this morning. Oh well.

Post-show Blues

Last night I fianlly had the time and inclination to see The Incredibles. What a great movie! I already can't wait until it comes out on DVD so I can add it to my collection. After the show I hit the hay nice and early - and still had a bit of trouble getting up this morning.

Thankfully I have a busy week at work so it should fly right by and help keep my mind off of the fact that the show is over. I already miss working with everyone and I'm already looking forward to whatever is next. Oh well, at least I have more free time now to get back to my full gym routine and to get a few design projects done. I also really should update my photos on this site. I know I've left that far too long.

C'est Tout

I am currently enjoying a quiet day as I recouperate from a full weekend of Dangerous Liaisons. I'm so glad I was able to be a part of this production. It was a treat being able to work with such kind and talented folks - we really did have a great cast for this! The part of "Emilie" was very enjoyable to play, and it was such a treat being on the Imperial stage once again. I'm already looking forward to the next time I get a chance to do this, whenever that may be. In the mean time I'll keep busy with SJTC: Second Stage productions. I believe we have some Original One Act Script readings coming up next Sunday the 28th.

Well, I should get back to tidying - it's amazing how things get so messy when I get busy. Perhaps later I'll check out The Incredibles - I've heard it's pretty good.

Opening Night for Dangerous Liaisons

I can hardly believe that it is already here! Last night was the student dress rehearsal. We had about 50 students come out, and I think we managed to work what will hopefully be the last of the kinks out of everything. I know that having a larger audience tonight will bring an extra energy to the show! I am SO excited!!

Student Dress Rehearsal tonight

Last night was our Tech Dress rehearsal. It was another long night, and it was the first evening we've had to contend with hair and makeup and costumes. I was so excited to be able to wear my full costume (and I didn't want to get out of it). Brenda McLeese is head of costumes and she has been doing an amazing job of pulling everything together and making everyone look fabulous.

By the time I got home from the Imperial, it was almost midnight and I was still wired. It took me an hour to decompress before I could hit the hay.

A Four-day Weekend

I don't think I can recount the entire happenings of my four-day weekend. I do remember having some time to relax and going to a number of rehearsals for Dangerous Liaisons. We have made even more improvements to the show and on Sunday, everything got moved into the Imperial theatre. Sunday evening I had a costume fitting and -wow- my costume is incredible!!

This is going to be an uber-busy week, starting with the cue-to-cue rehearsal tonight. I love it - I just love being in the Imperial.

Time Flies When You Have A Short Work Week And A Ton of Work To Do

It is a very busy short work week. My day is already flying by as I try to squeeze as much work as possible into this 3-day work week. This morning I have been listening to some classic Hall & Oates while I work. I especially like thier older stuff - specifically from the "Abandoned Luncheonette" album. Anyway - I'd better get back to it so I can get everything done that I need to get done today. Have a good one!

Where does the time go?

I can't believe this is the last week of rehearsals before we move into the Imperial theatre! Things are starting to ramp up a bit more as the show draws closer. Thankfully this is a short work week. Thursday is Remembrance Day and I've taken Friday off to make it a 4-day weekend. No doubt I will make use of my extra spare time and get a few things done on my list of things to do. :-)

Weekend Recap

Friday after rehearsal, a few of us stopped in at the Somerset Pub to catch the Richard Kidd band at Jazz night. After catching one set, we then headed uptown and popped into Melvin's to see Theresa Malanfant - another jazz band who was a lot more lively.

Saturday I ran a few errands, made it to the gym, had rehearsal, and then a lovely dinner at Billy's Seafood. (I'd forgotten just how tasty their planked salmon is.) then went to a muder mystery party at Lisa and Anthony's. My character, Stacy Painter, was fun to put together. She was very colourful (and perhaps a bit of an ode to Cyndi Lauper). I was starting to fade when everyone decided to go to karaoke, so I just called it a night.

Sunday was another full day - brunch at Cora's, errand-running, and rehearsal. We did a work-through of Act 2. After rehearsal, I spent a bit of time doing a little bit of crafting, then had dinner at Swiss Chalet and rented The Day After Tomorrow. Man, what a terrible movie - super cheezy in so many ways. Not suprising that the fellow who co-wrote and directed that also directed Independance Day.

TGIF

I got into work yesterday and felt absolutely horrible, so after getting one thing out of the way, I turned around and went home and spent the rest of the day (and evening) sleeping. I'm still not feeling 100% today, but I am feeling a LOT better. if I can nip this cold in the bud I'll be a happy camper. It's a tough time of year for colds. Half the folks from work have been sick lately. Yarr.

I am really looking forward tto rehearsal tonight. The full cast will be running Act 1 and I can't wait to see the improvements. Can you believe it's already only 2 weeks till the show! Where does the time go?

Don't forget that the Christmas Craft Fair is on at Brunswick Square until 6 PM on Saturday. It's worth taking a bit of time and checking out Joanna's booth (by the escalators across from Laura Secord).

Leaps and Bounds

Last night the mostly completed chaise lounge arrived at our rehearsal hall. What a difference that makes to rehearse with! Also, we made some great strides forward with the scene we were working on - I can't wait till the next full cast rehearsal to see how the rest of the scenes are coming along. No doubt, leaps and bounds of improvements have been made on all of them! It's such a great script to work with and there is so much that goes on that isn't even said - it'll be a great show! I am SO glad I'm involved in it!

Fitting

I went to my first costume fitting last night. It looks like Brenda will have to construct most of my costumes herself. I am already looking forward to the next fitting. I peeked through the costumes on the racks and they look amazing - Dangerous Liaisons going to be a beautiful show!

Today is election day in the States, I am anxious for this to get over and done with, as I have grown tired of hearing all the nastiness of the campaigns. And, in case you were not aware, it is also Day of the Dead in Mexico.

Halloween Weekend

Friday night I did an upper-body workout, then I had rehearsal. When we were done working on our scene, Beth and I went down to the Ale House, and about half an hour later, Elizabeth, Jerry and Graham joined us. The Ale House was having a Guiness Beer promo thing. We all got a free sample of Guiness and some Guiness glasses.

Saturday I did a legs workout at the gym, and tidied a bit - oh and I spent an hour babysitting Beth's son Patrick (who is a little cutie and very well-behaved) while she was in rehearsal. Then I got ready for the party and helped Lisa get ready (hair and makeup) and about a dozen folks came over. I lent Jerry my halo and wings - to which he later added my clip-on earrings from my Wonder Woman costume (which had been hurting my ears) and he called his costume "misunderstood". Around 10 PM, we all went to the Somerset Pub. It was a good crowd. Martine, Kizzy and Jamie all got their costumes from Brenda and they looked fabulous. They had a costume contest which got narrowed down to Martine and I, and she won the Keg party (which she at first thought was a cake party!). It was a lot of fun and I thought everyone who dressed up did a great job on their costumes. I didn't make to to Studio 54 to go dancing - I was too wiped (and I couldn't wait to wash all the makeup off).

Sunday afternoon we had a full-cast rehearsal which went very well. We worked through all of Act I and did a lot of tweaking along the way. It was great to have Jackie join our cast and bring such life to her character, Rosemond. I then enjoyed a quiet evening in - and forgot to move my car to the other side of the street. Oops.
