Making Lists

I'm a fan of making lists of things to do for myself, but I sometimes have a tendancy to make a list at work for things that I need to do once I get home, and then I forget to bring it with me. Usually there is enough stuff going on that I'll forget things that I wanted to get done, thus the need for a list of things to do. Not long ago, I stumbled across this handy little site, Ta-da Lists. It has been pretty helpful since I can access it from any computer, email a list to myself so I don't forget about it, and even share them with people (if I so wanted). The lists are also really easy to maintain. It beats sticking a bunch of post-it notes in my purse and then forgetting about them. Oh - and it's free.

Blocking Week

We are currently in the midst of blocking for The Crucible this week. It's a tough week to get through. From an actor's perspective, you're expected to still try to communicate but then you still have your script in hand, and then on top of that, you need to take notes to mark down just when, where and why you move/sit/stand/kneel/etc... We were missing our stage manager last night so I took notes for all cast blocking for Act 1. Hopefully she will be able to read and understand my notes!

Counter Tactics

My kittens won't keep off my kitchen counter, so it is currently covered in tinfoil (which they hate to walk on). It seems to be keeping them off. I wonder how long it'll take for them to really understand that they are not allowed up there.

I thought things would get easier.

A Break?

All is well in the land of Crucible AD-ing. We're chugging along with the text work and we'll be on to blocking next week. It is a great learning experience so far and we're only just beginning.

Between work and rehearsals I haven't had much free time. We had to rearrange the schedule a bit this week so I actually find myself with a couple of nights off in a row. What a delight! Now I can finally get to sorting out my papers so I can do my taxes.

Between Work and Rehearsals;

- I remembered to pick up kleenex for home and a new box of Clariton. Now is the season of sinus suffering. Gotta love allergies.
- I renewed my residential parking permit.
- I started Kingdom Hearts II. It looks like it'll be as good as the first one.
- I updated my calendars with the rehearsal schedule for The Crucible. It's pretty full - I think I have 8 completely free evenings between now and May 28th. Oy. It's a good thing I enjoy the process!

Happy Easter!

I took a quick trip on the weekend to visit my folks for Easter. Now I'm back home and back at work. I hope you all had a great Eatser weekend!

A Belated Friday Feast...

Appetizer:
What movie soundtracks do you own?
I have a ton of movie soundtracks. I often listen to the soundtracks for Hitch, The Lord of the Rings series, The Star Wars series, Gladiator, Chicago, Dirty Dancing, and Braveheart.

Soup:
How much cash do you usually carry with you?
I rarely have any actual cash on me. Usually only a bit of change amounting in enough to purchase a coffee or two.

Salad:
Are you more comfortable around men or women? Why?
Hard to say. I think I'm pretty comfortable around both.

Main Course:
What is the most mischievous thing you remember doing as a child?
I was such a goody-two-shoes I can't think of anything that I would have done that was considered mischievious.

Dessert:
Who is the funniest member of your family?
I have no idea - but I do really appreciate the humour on my mom's side of the family.

Cold Coffee

This morning I poured a nice hot coffee for myself. I'd really been looking forward to it. But then I got busy... and forgot about it. I'm now on my second sup of coffee. This one I really would like to drink.

Did you know that every human has a unique tongue print?

The Rehearsal Process Begins

Last night we bagan text work for The Crucible. It's important to get this show running at a good pace right off the bat, because it is a pretty long one. It also (like most snows) doesn't work as well unless everything that the characters deal with is of the utmost importance. It'll be a busy couple of months!!

In other news, I went and got my tires changed at lunch.

A Night Off!

I actually had last night off so I made sure to use it to my full advantage. I started off with a 2.5 hour nap. Then, I had supper and read for a bit and then I watched The Chronicles of Narnia. That young fellow who played Peter is going to be a real heartbreaker as he grows up.

A very full weekend

Friday night I couldn't take it anymore. I needed a night off. So, it being Joanna's last Friday living in town, we decided to make it a full evening out. We started out at 4:30 with drinks at Happinez. Then popped into the Handworks gallery show (amazing pottery - I was very tempted to get something, but then I thought about my kittens and how I have no sacred spots left in the apartment where I can leave anything even remotely fragile out. It was a nice showing and nice to see a few folks that I don't often get to see as well. We then decided to get a bit of food into our systems so we headed over to Taco Pica - yum! Then it was off to Sebastians, where we waited for a while for even a drink menu but they were kinda busy and seemed a bit scattered and we left without having had anything about 10 minutes after a waiter had said he'd drop a drinklist over. So- back across the street for another glass of wine at Happinez before hopping in a cab to go cheer Kizzy on at The Blue Olive. She has a bunch of new songs in her repetoire and is now singing throughout the 3 sets. And she rocked, as usual! Joanna and I stayed right to the bitter end. It was great - love the atmosphere there and it's always nice to see that gang!

Saturday was an early morning - catching up with Colin over a bite to eat at Reggie's and then in to work for the day. It's amazing how much one can get done when there's no one else in the office! After that, I popped home to freshen up and got a bite to eat and then went to see Moonchildren, which was very enjoyable! Great script, well-staged, well-cast and some really good acting. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I wound up sitting right at the front (I kept moving forward because tall people and people with huge hair who didn't slouch kept sitting right in front of me.) and had a great view of the show and actually got a bit caught up in the emotions of the characters, which I hadn't expected. Kudos to everyone involved in that production. After the show I enjoyed a beverage and salad at the Ale House while I caught up with more friends. My goodness - I hadn't had a chance to see a few friends and catch up with them in person in absolute eons. Thank goodness for blogs so I can at least keep "in touch" with them that way! Oh yeah, and I stopped in at the cast party for a bit, but wasn't exactly drinking and it wasn't really my party - I just wanted to cheer on some friends, oh and I knew I'd have to work in the morning, so I didn't stay too long.

Sunday. Trouble getting up. It was all starting to catch up with me. Met Colin at Reggie's for breakfast (yes - twice in one weekend - how extravagant!). Ran into Stephen and Sandra and William who was adorable as usual and quite a handful at the age of 2. (If only the boundless energy of childhood could somehow be saved for those times when you need a Monday morning boost once you're an adult.) I then ran out to pick up a couple of grocery necessitates that couldn't be put off any longer. And then - back to the office. Yep. Gave myself time to eat and have a power-nap before heading back out to the production meeting for The Crucible. That rolled right into our first read-through which went quite well (if perhaps a bit long) and the next thing I knew, it was about 10:30 and I finally go to go home and do a bit of weekend relaxing. LOL

Friday's Feast

Appetizer:
Name a trait you share with your parents or your children.
I can be stubborn like my father, and I love puzzels and word games like my mother.

Soup:
List 3 qualities of a good leader, in your opinion.
Respectful. knowledgable, driven.

Salad:
Who is your favorite television chef?
I'm sorry - I don't know any television chefs. I barely watch TV as it is.

Main Course:
Share a story about a gift you received from someone you love.
My parents gave me the practical gift of a beautiful iron and wicker dinette set when I graduated from University.

Dessert:
How do you react under pressure?
For the most part quite well. Deadlines keep me from procrastinating. I do get frustrated if there is a lot of pressure and something silly is getting in my way. If it's an emergency situation, I kick in to super-organized mode and do what I can to get things resolved.

More of the Same

Yep. Pretty much just working a lot. Not much else going on. I did take a bit of a break last night and helped Keith's gf get the makeup process started for Moonchildren. She'll be fine on her own. I'm looking forward to seeing the show Saturday night. And this morning, I went into work a couple of hours early and I got a ton done. Speaking of work, I'd better get back to it.

Lots o' Work

That's just about all I've been up to lately. I guess it's a good thing I'm in between theatrical projects at the moment.
Hmmm. let's see - what else has been new... tasty Suwanna dinner with friends Thursday night, caught up a bit with Joanna and Jan Friday evening, Worked a long day Saturday, followed by supper at Swiss Chalet with Colin. (Thank goodness I have friends who also tend to eat out a lot!!) Sunday was a late start due to the time change, and I got a bit of work done again and that evening I finally defeated Rapthorne in Dragon Quest VIII only to find out that the end isn't necessarily the very end of the game.

It looks like a crazy busy week of work, so I'd better get back to it. Yee-ha.
