Weekend Update

Congrats to Liz and thanks to Jenn & Lisa F regarding the karaoke party on Friday night. It was fun to get out and sing a few songs and catch up with a few folks.

Saturday morning Ann came over and found a couple of pairs of shoes in my purge pile. She then helped me take the remaining 5.5 garbage bags of old clothes and shoes to the Salvation Army. That afternoon, I stopped back in to Doug's salon and got the color boosted in my hair. I now have bright/intense red chunks - it's pretty fun!

Saturday evening I headed out to Brian and Karen's for a lovely BBQ dinner. Their new place is awesome and their cat is adorable. It was nice to see them again!

Sunday I did a bit of tidying and logo work. Matt stopped by and checked out "About a Boy", while I did logo work. Then I spent the evening playing D&D, which was great!

I'm currently reading "Game of Thrones" by George RR Martin, but I've been so tired lately, I've only been able to get through a chapter each night - and the chapters are only about 6 or 10 pages long.

Friday's feast #157

Appetizer
Say there’s a book written about your life. Who would you want to narrate the audio version?
Either Morgan Freeman or Patrick Stewart. I could listen to either of them for hours!

Soup
Take the letters from your favorite kind of nut and write a sentence. (Example: Perhaps every avenue needs understanding today.)
Balancing respect and zen is lovely.

Salad
If you could go back in time and spend one week in another decade, which decade would you choose?
I love the style of the 1940's.

Main Course
Name a song that brings back memories for you.
"No One Is To Blame" by Howard Jones reminds me of warm summer days living in Ontario.

Dessert
Do you prefer to wash your hands in cold water or warm water?
Warm.

Catching up with Lisa F

Another day at work that flew by... have I mentioned that I'm loving my job?

Lisa came by last evening and went through my bags-o-clothing and found a few items to claim before I send stuff off to be donated. That reminds me, I'll have to call someone about that. It was nice to catch up and hang out with her for a bit.

After she left, I wound up watching the first 2 episodes of LA Ink, a spinoff of Miami Ink on TLC, where Kat has opened her own tattoo studio in LA.

Nice to be Needed

Wow - I had a crazy day at work! I am working on a bunch of cool projects and have a lot to keep track of and I'm loving it! I'm still slowly getting things set up and will eventually have all of the tools and access I need to do both aspects of my job. Can't wait for that.

A quiet evening at home was just what I needed after a late night the night before, and a hectic day at work. I wound up finishing LOTR The Third Age (on the xBox). Awesome game but the ending was king of hokey and somewhat dissapointing.

Another Weekend Away

I headed to Halifax on the weekend with Jay & Lisa M. We drove down after work on Friday, stopping on the way for an excellent meal at Montanna's in Moncton. By the time we got to my parents place, it was getting pretty late, so we chatted with mum for a bti and then called it a night.

We got up on Saturday morning and we were treated to a fantastic breakfast - worthy of keeping us full and energized for a full day of shopping. And that's just what we had. We hit Dartmouth Crossing, Halifax Shopping Center and Mic Mac Mall - all in about 8 hours, with only a couple of short breaks for caffeine and a quick snack. By the time we got back to my parents place, it was getting on 7 PM and we were all starving. We all headed out to Halifax for an amazing meal at The Keg. I love thier steak topped with pecans & goat's cheese. Mmm... can imagine the taste now as I type this... :-)

After dinner, we opted to enjoy a quiet night in and headed back to my folks place to put a movie in. We wound up watching "Night at the Museum" which was really cute! I think we all had really low expectations and we were all pleasantly surprised!

Sunday started early with another amazing breakfast, and then we packed our stuff up and went in to downtown Halifax to do a wee bit (3 hours) more shopping around the downtown area before heading back to Saint John.

Thanks, Jay and Lisa, for coming along - I had a blast!

I got home and wanted to crash, but I still had a 1/2 finished closet rennovation taking over my bedroom, so I decided to tackle it. Boy, did I ever! It took me until 2 AM, but I wound up cleaning out and organizing most of my clothes and shoes. I now have 6 garbage bags of stuff to go to either the Salvation Army or the Diabetes Association's Clothesline. I'll have to give them a call.

Friday's Feast #156

Appetizer
Describe your laundry routine. Do you have a certain day when you do it all, or do you just wash whatever you need for the next day?
I save my clothes up (I have a fair amount) and once a month, I sort them into garbage bags and take them down the street to the laundromat. I drop them off and they clean them for about $5 per bag. The next day, I come back and pick up my fresh clean folded clothes and take them home and put them away.

Soup
In your opinion, what age will you be when you’ll consider yourself to truly be old?
Well, that's certainly a relative question. there are timems that I can feel both old and young at the same time. But truely old? I can't imagine ever feeling that way.

Salad
What is one of your goals? Is it short-term, long-term, or both?
One of my goals is to see more of the world.

Main Course
Name something unbelievable you’ve seen or read lately.
The movie "Stardust" - while it may not have been belevably realistic in real-life, it was a great film!

Dessert
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how happy are you today?
8 - I'm enjoying my new job and I'm looking forward to the weekend.

What fun!

I picked up a closet organizer and I'm in the midst of re-organizing my closet. It's replacing the hanging rack that I've been using for the last 10 years, which has served me well enough. But it's cramped. And I've outgrown it. Of course, this also gives me an opportunity to do a wee bit of wardrobe purging while I'm at it. I got half way through the job this evening before heading out to see Stardust. Man, what a great movie! It was just as fun and fantastic as the book was. :-)

Friday's Feast

Appetizer
What is your favorite kind of pie?
Blueberry! [drool]

Soup
Name something that made you smile this week.
Matt sent me a joke email about office policies that made me laugh.

Salad
What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid?
Alas I live on the coast with the natural air conditioning of the ocean breeze. If it's hot & humid elsewhere, I stick around uptown and enjoy the relative coolness. If I'm with friends, I may be tempted to enjoy a nice cold beer on a patio as well.

Main Course
You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up?
My bedroom. I'm actually in the midst of a minor adjustment to better accomodate my clothes and shoes.

Dessert
Fill in the blank: My _________ says __________, but I __________.
My friend says I have too many pairs of shoes , but I wear and enjoy them all, so I don't think I have too many.

Now that it's official and I have it in writing...

I have a new job that I'll be starting on August 13th. I'm looking forward to it - it should be fun. I'll be a Registration Support Coordinator/Media Developer at Innovatia. In the mean time, I'm doing everything I can to tie up any loose ends so I can squeeze in a wee bit of vacation before I start. Yay!

Sorry for the slackness with postings.

Things have been okay. I continue to look for a new job and I'm doing a bit of freelance and trying to get back into a more regular fitness routine, all the while continuing to spend time with my friends and watch a few movies (both at the theatre and on DVD). Speaking of freelance, I think I'll spend a bit of time working on that now.... :-)
