Friday's Feast #166

Appetizer
Name a great website you would recommend to others.
McSweeneys contains a collection of very interesting/smart/funny/neat/inspriring/amusing writing.

Soup
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 as highest), how often do you dream at night?
As I understood it, there's a science to hwo much we dream - the amount of sleep and approximate amount of REM that we get every night. I think the question should be more along the lines of "How often do you remember dreaming?" which is just about every night for me. Hard to put that on a scale, sorry.

Salad
Did you have a pet as a child? If so, what kind and what was its name?
We had a cat named Purdy Cat until I was 4 and we moved to Montreal to a place where the landlord didn't allow pets.

Main Course
If you had the chance to star in a commercial, what would you choose to advertise?
I was in a beer commercial just over 10 years ago but that wouldn't have been something that I'd choose to advertise. It'd be fun to be in a Mac commercial.

Dessert
What is your favorite kind of hard candy?
Wow - I actually don't really enjoy hard candies. I guess if I had a choice, I'd go for one of those little maple syrup ones that they have at JavaMoose.

Yes I'm a slacker

I've been so busy over the last couple of weeks that I haven't had a chance to update. Let's see if I can sum up what I've been up to...

- I enjoyed a quick Thanksgiving weekend visiting my folks and gave a lift to Joie on the way back from Halifax. I hope all is going well with her jaw surgery and her subsequent recovery.
- I turned 35 and my cats turned 2. It was a quiet birthday for the most part and I got to spend a bit of time with some friends and got some thoughtful cards and gifts - thanks to all of you!
- Things are going well at work, and I've been doing a wee bit of overtime. It's all worth it - and I don't mind if it's not all the time and if I like what I'm working on.
- I came up with some fun makeup designs for the characters of Ariel and Calaban and the godesses for The Tempest, and spent the past week working on that. Thanks again to a great hair and makeup crew - who are fun to work with and do a great job. Also thanks to Elizabeth and the cast for the opportunity and the good times. I'll have to post some photos....

Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend

It's Monday and I am SO thankful to have the day off work! I went to Halifax for the weekend and spent Thanksgiving with the folks. On the way ther eon Friday I stopped in to Moncton and caught up with Colin over a fantastic dinner at Swiss Chalet. It was great to see him and catch up in person. I got in to Halifax around midnight - bot was I tired.

Despite a late night, I didn't sleep in much on Saturday. I enjoyed a nice breakfast out with my folks and then I set them up on the iMac and did a bit of shopping with mom. We got back with enough time for me to take a nap and shower before dinner. I was just exhausted and not feeling 100%. We headed out to The Keg and I was not feeling any better. Dinner was good (they wound up not charging me for my Prime Rib as only 1/2 of it was cooked at medium rare and the other half was rare and full of fat) but I wasn't feeling well at all. We got home and I felt like everything hurt. I took some stuff for it and went to bed. Sorry - Sue and Jed - I wanted to come visit but I was right out of it. Oy.

Sunday I felt a bit better. I spent the morning doing laundry and headed out by noon. I was at least starting to feel a bit better. I picked up Joie and we stopped in at Halifax Shopping Center before we hit the road. The drive back seemed really quick and it was great to catch up with her. By the time I gt home and unpacked, I was beat. I wound up going to bed at 8:30 and didn't wake up until 8 this morning, only to head back to bed for another 2 hour nap a little while later. Guess I needed it!!

Today, if I can get my act in gear, I'm going to get started on some Dracula costume stuff and then head out to Jay & Lisa M's for a bit. I hope everyone has enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving weekend!!

Friday Feast #163

Appetizer
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you look forward to your birthday?
8 or 9. I like getting together with my family and using it was an ecuse to have a gathering with friends, although this year will probably be a quiet one, which is good too. :-)

Soup
What is one word you don’t like the sound, spelling, or meaning of?
Puss. Gross on all accounts.

Salad
Do you wear sunglasses when you’re outside? If so, what does your current pair look like?
If I have my contacts in and I'm not wearing regular glasses. I have a very fun pair of sunglasses that are kinda cheesy. They are lareg-ish (but not too large) and have rhinestones embedded in the lenses at the top outer edges and white arms. I feel like I should be hitting a ski slope somewhere when I'm wearing them - tehy are just plain fun! :-)

Main Course
If you were to write a book, to whom would you dedicate it?
My parents!

Dessert
Name a beverage that you enjoy.
Pink grapefruit juice. Yum!

Joining the 21st century...

I'm taking a pit stop from cleaning off my old iMac. I'm giving it to my folks, so it won't be long before they're online too.

Just Workin'

I'm working on some pretty cool stuff for work and things are busy but I enjoy it. Somehow it managed to get busier. LOL

Finishing "La Traviata"

The third and last show went well last night. The cast party at the ABEC was lovely and it was a nice chance to say thanks and see off the folks that came into town to work on the production. Needless to say, it'll be an early night tonight. I thought I'd have a free evening to recuperate tonight but I wound up working late instead. Sometimes it seems as though there are just not enough hours in the day!

Yet Another Weekend That Flew By

Friday evening I stopped out at the Blue Olive to cheer Kizzy on. It was pretty quiet in there. I'm guessing it's the calm before the storm of the pre-holiday season.

Saturday I finally had a chance to clean my place. I'd been so busy last week that it all piled up and was starting to bug me. Man, it felt good to clean. Not to mention the fact that I enjoyed being a bit of a hermit and staying in and puttering and cleaning. Well, staying in until 6 PM, when I headed over to the Imperial for another night of makeup for Tosca. I watched the show from backstage and it was fantastic. It's so inspiring to see people with that much talent, including all of the local folks who were in the cast. Wow - what a show!!!

Sunday I headed over to a production meeting for Dracula. It went long, as it was the first one I went to. I'll be heading up the costumes for it. Unfortunately, I forgot all about the screening of "My Immortality" from 2 - 4 that was happening for the Continental Drift Film Festival. That was the short film by Richard MacQueen that I did with Alex. I hope it went well and I hope I get to see it sometime. I did, however, get some groceries (terribly exciting, non?) aand then headed out to Jay & Lisa M's for a bit.
