Monday, May 25, 2009 Yay! My Community Garden Plot! I wish I'd gotten a before picture. It took about 8 hours of work to dig up the grass and till in the compost on this 4' x 25' garden plot. Here it is, ready for planting... I picked up some marigolds to plant around the edgers of my garden, and since I had the day off, I managed to get those and the veggies planted. It's going to be a full little garden! I've planted rosemary, chives, parsley, lavender, green beans, snap peas, carrots, radishes, beets, spanish onions, green onions, zucchini, spaghetti squash, lettuce and spinach. :-) Posted by Dre at 6:39 PM 0 comments Cuckoo's Nest snapshots It was a treat to see Richard Roy bring "Cheswick" to life! Hanging with Vince Gregg, who I also work with. I enjoyed flinging my coat his way on stage! It was a treat to get onstage with both Jay and Lisa Miller. Wish I'd managed to get a photo with Lisa too. Brian Jennings, who played mental patient "Martini" does my taxes! I got to be in a show with Irwin Hornick... Mare as "Nurse O'Hare" - or as I liked to call her, "Sparky O'Zaps-a-lot" detangling a skein of yarn backstage: Hanging with Jo-Anne MacDonald, who was Nurse Ratched... Of course it may have helped that we got to enjoy Victoria Day holiday and rested up a bit for the full evening. I woke up this morning to a call from my landlord's office. They are finally looking at replacing my bedroom window (which leaks when it rains and when the wind comes from the south.) It seems as though the leak may be a bit more complicated than I thought, as my neighbor above me also needs her window replaced. It seems as though they are both - uh, disintegrating a bit. My only concern is that I may no longer be able to use my stained glass panels on the new windows. I designed two of them to cover the bottom frames, and my dad made them for me. They do a wonderful job allowing privacy while letting light (and color) into the room. Here's a photo of one of the panels... My plot is 4' x 25' and I can't wait to get started working on it. I've picked up some basic gardening supplies for myself, as well as compost and seeds for vegetables. First off, (as soon as it stops pouring and I have a few minutes of free time) I need to take up the grass that is covering a third of my plot, and then I'll need to spread and till in the compost and blood meal. The garden is organic, so I'm looking forward to enjoying some tasty and healthy veggies through the summer, and I'll be able to share with friends too, so don't be surprised if I show up at your doorstep with raw veggies in hand. :-) Posted by Dre at 10:23 PM 0 comments Random Dead Lobster A few folks from the cast of Cuckoo's Nest decided to grab some post-rehearsal supper at the Ale House today. As we sat at the window at the pub, we watched as all sorts of people who were walking along the boardwalk stop and peer at a garbage can. We couldn't figure out what it was, so a couple of folks went to investigate... Here's Mare posing with it: Posted by Dre at 10:20 PM 0 comments Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Busy sleep work eat rehearse repeat Posted by Dre at 10:35 AM 0 comments |
