Flowered Tote Bag
Last year I'd picked up some fabric so I could make this tote bag. It took me until this year to get around to making it. It's a pretty simple pattern, but then I forget how slow I can be at sewing things. Glad to have it completed.

Vines & Leaves Beret
I couldn't resist picking up a ball of the very fun & sparkly Vanna's Glamour Lion Brand yarn ($6.99 at Michael's) the other day. One ball of it was perfect for making the small size of the Vine & Leaves Beret from the Fall 2009 issue of Vogue Knitting magazine. It went up in two short evenings!

Revisiting Dragon Age
When Dragon Age: Origins was first released, I picked it up for my xBox 360. I played through each of the origin stories, and played through the entire game as a human noble warrior and tried my best to be the good guy and help everyone. The game was enjoyable & interesting, even if the load screens seemed to take forever.
I then went back in to play it again, this time as a human mage who was a jerk. It certainly wasn't as easy, and I didn't get far. Mostly, I didn't get far, because I got bored with the same dialogues & scenarios that I'd recently played. So I put it down.
Recently, a friend of mine lent me his PS3 version of the game, and I thought I'd revisit it. I've created an elven mage character and I'm once again trying to be the nice buy, but I'm also trying to do a better job befriending my team mates than I did on my first go around. I still find myself a little bored with the conversations, and have skipped through a lot of them, and I still find the load screens to be long (but now I keep knitting handy so I can do a few stitches while waiting), but it turns out that there are a few things I'd either forgotten about or missed since my first go at the game. The PS3 version seems to be very buggy compared to the xbox one. Lots of weird camera things where characters don't show up or have glitches, and lots of times where I wind up waiting for the game to notice that I've completed a scenario so taht I can move on, where I wind up having the initiating conversation over again - to much frustration. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll continue playing. Perhaps it's time to go back and finish Read Dead Redemption or Arkane Asylum instead.

In Progress: Orchid Thief Shawlette
I love the design for the Orchid Thief Shawlette by Ysolda Teague and I'm almost done, but I ran out of yarn near the start of the last row, and the pattern doesn't lend well to ending things early. So I'll have to hunt down another skein of the yarn that I'm using - and hope to get the same color & dyelot. Sigh. So almost done.

In Progress: Moulin Rouge Mittens
One down, one to go. Mare gave me the pattern as a gift, knowing it'd be right up my alley. The yarn is Madeline Tosh sock in Tart (red) & Antler (cream). I enjoy the slight variations in tone, and I like the fact that the yarn is more of a light fingering (3 ply) than regular sock weight (4 ply) yarn. I'm also knitting this on 2mm needles, instead of the 2.25mm ones that the pattern calls for (since I have long yet narrow hands).

Recuperation
It was a busy October. After the Marco Polo musical, I had to travel for work for a week. That was a successful trip (whew!) and I did get to visit some of my extended family on my dad's side, whom I hadn't seen in years - what a nice treat to see everyone doing so well! I got back and all I wanted to do was sleep. My first weekend home was a chance to clear out my garden plot, get groceries, and actually clean my apartment. Things I hadn't had time for in weeks. Also, I'd twinged my lower back while set-painting, so it was the first time in a few weeks that I was actually able to do these things, let alone having the time to. It felt nice to be home, and it was great to spend time with my cats again.
