Monday, October 20, 2003 Saturday in Halifax Lisa and Anthony came with me to Halifax this weekend. We left Friday after work, and didn't get in to Halifax until after 11. I think we were all pretty tired - and poor Lisa had a pretty bad cold. We got up mid-morning on Saturday (which was late for me but early for Lisa and Anthony). After dad made a big breakfast for us, we headed out in the cold and rain to run some errands. First stop was Mic Mac Mall so I could return a duvet cover and pillow shams to The Bay. We also made a point of stopping at the drug store to get kleenex with lotion for Lisa. Poor thing. A visit to Toys'r'us was great. We got our photos taken with Clifford the big red dog and Elmo. Also, Lisa and I spent some time checking out all the Bratz stuff. I wish they had that stuff when I was a kid. It's pretty stylin'! We aso spent a good whle in the Disney store. They have fabulous costumes for kids (I kind of wish they made them for adults too)! Anthony found a very nifty stuffed animal: a hand puppet of the mean shark from finding Nemo. It was pretty cool. Lots more running around brought us out to Chapters, The Halifax Shopping Center, and to Bayers Lake twice. I finally found a duvet cover I'm satisfied with. Yay! After dinner with the folks, we rushed back out to Bayers Lake to meet up with Sue and Jedd to see Lost in Translation which we all really enjoyed. It was a very intelligent movie. Too bad it's not playing in Saint John. We then went for coffee and met up with Renny, who had our tickets for the Rocky Horror Show at Neptune Theatre. We headed out to see the special midnight showing. Lots of people were dressed up for it, and they were even selling packs of participation items in the lobby. Each pack (about $4) contained a tiny water gun with some water in it, some rice, some croutons (toast), a tiny flashlight (with "The Rocky Horror Show" printed on it), and red candy lips (mmm... cinnamon!). Our seats were in the 5th row of the balcony, and we couldn't really see the front part of the stage, which kind of sucked. It might have been easier to see if the folks in the front row of the balcony weren't leaning way forward for the whole show. Also, the audience had a tendancy to keep yelling things at the actors every tie they spoke, and throughout their entire speeches, so I couldn't hear most of the dialogue. I found that to be extremely frustrating. As for the show itself, I thought the singing, dancing and set design were great. I am glad I got to see it (although an afternoon matinee with a more tame audience might have been a bit less bothersome to me). Posted by Dre at 10:30 AM |
