Monday, May 16, 2005 Weekend Update Friday afternoon I got my second pedicure ever. It was nice and I like the colour ("It's All Greek to Me") but I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for the social aspect. A large group of women from work decided to get together for pedicures and then a girl's night out. It was a fun evening - and a nice chance to get to know a few of the women from work a bit better. Saturday morning I got up bright and early and worked on a logo for the SJTC. I took a break for lunch then went back to work on it. Then I headed upriver with Colin - who was heading up to mow the expansive grounds. I enjoyed some quiet time and read the play that my workshop scene is from. Then for supper, Joanna and I headed to Hampton to hang out with Beth. She spoiled us with goats cheese and red pepper jelley and a fresh baguette followed by fresh lobster then pesto pasta. Yum! That was such a relaxing evening - great company, great food, great atmosphere. Thanks, Beth for the great meal and comapny - and for letting me nab a bunch of rhubarb from your garden! On the way back into the city, Joanna and I stopped in at Blockbuster and picked up some movies to add to our collections. I was tired when I got home but I managed to stay up to watch The Horse Whisperer - which is 2 hours and 40 minutes long, but oh so good. I've heard that it's slow but I didn't think that it was - like the other movies that Robert Redford has directed, I thought it was lyrical. Sunday was a day of getting things done; cleaning, laundry, baking things with the rhubarb that I'd scored from Beth. I made a rhubarb crumble with a (lactose-free) brandy cream sauce, and then had enough left over to make a rhubarb merangue pie. Even though I didn't make my merangue fluffy enough, I still prefer the taste of the pie to the crumble. Both recipies came out of Grand Slam!, one of the Best of Bridge books. The baking took longer than I'd anticipated so I didn't get as much done as I'd wanted to on Sunday. I had a quiet evening - a bite to eat at Swiss Chalet then watched We Were Soldiers which was OK.
