Monday, February 20, 2006 Weekend of Busy-ness Friday I rushed home from work and grabbed a bite to eat and fed the cats. Then met up with Shane to discuss costume stuff for Sight Unseen. After that, I got groceries and did a bit of shopping. By the time I got home, it was 9:30 PM and I was exhausted. I was also starting to get a cold. Saturday morning I played a bit of DragonQuest VIII and then headed out to the last of the Crucible auditions. We had a lot of folks out and it was a full afternoon. After the auditions, I headed over to D'Amico's for a bit with Stephen & Sandra, Kizzy & Jamie, Brian D and Kristi. Then I ran home to feed the cats, take some more cold medications and head back out. I had dinner with Colin and Joanna at Taco Pica and then we headed over to the Wine Fair. The Wine Fiar was decent. I seem to remember finding more wines that I liked last year. I had a goal in mind: to find some wines that I could enjoy sipping, not ones that I'd need a steak to enjoy. I found a few - both white and red. And no - I didn't get loaded - or even a buzz on, as I had the tiniest of sips of each because I still wasn't feeling well (despite all of the cold medications). It was pretty crowded and a lot of folks were really dressed up. I think I got about 3/4 of the way through the room before I decided to head home. Renny called and said he was in town for the evening. He had come down from Halifax with his nephew Tracy's band, Universal Soul, who was playing at Neptune on Water Street. Renny popped by for about 45 minutes, then he had to head out to the gig. Late Sunday morning I met up with Renny for breakfast at Reggie's. It was good to catch up with him, especially since I had to cancel my last trip to Halifax to go to the Tour Tech Party with him (that was the first time I'd missed it in about 10 years). I went home for a bit and tried to get a bit more sleep, then had to go meet with Stephen to go over casting choices for The Crucible. Man, what a jigsaw. (No, we don't have things ironed out yet, in case you are waiting to hear back. Don't worry - it'll be soon!) After that, I went home and gamed (DragonQuest VIII) for an hour before heading over to Joanna's for dinner. Thanks to Joanna, I had pizza for the first time in 5 years! I actually got choked up a bit about it, but then that could have just been from all of the cold medications I was taking. She made it with goats cheese (mozzerella-style). Not only that - she made 4 different pizzas and they were all different and phenominal! Thanks again, Joanna!! Alas, my cold got worse again once I got home, and I coughed through the night and woke up with a temperature. I've made it into work and I managed to get a couple of things done, but I'm fading fast. It's not easy to work when you have a temperature too. I guess I'll just have to catch up on some much-needed sleep. That's what I get for trying to ignore a bad cold by taking a bunch of stuff to mask the symptoms so I could keep getting stuff done. Silly me. Posted by Dre at 11:08 AM |
