Tuesday, March 27, 2007 The Visit My mother came to visit on the weekend. She took the bus down so we could have a "girls weekend." It was good to see her but she was pretty sick - some really bad cough and cold and plugged ears (which made conversation pretty difficult). We got out a little bit, but the bulk of the weekend was still full of Cabaret stuff. On Saturday, I took mom along with me as I got folks started on a musical rehearsal, and we stopped in at the Mocean dance workshop and made sure all was well with the cast. (They looked like they were having fun!) We then headed out to Black's Harbour to check out the very cool yarn shop, Cricket on the Hearth. By the time we got back into town, we werre pretty tuckered, so instead of cooking, we decided on pad thai from the Thai Hut in the Quality Convenience and then stayed in to watch "The Holiday." We managed to get out of the house for a bit on Sunday, taking a short walk at the INP and heading to the vortex for a bit of shopping, then out to Hampton for a bit of a drive. We got back in time for mom to nap while I attended a Cabaret costume meeting. The meeting was good - log but very productive. When I arrived back home, mom was up and ready for dinner, so we popped out to the Ale House for steaks (which were ok). Poor mom wasn't feeling so hot as her cold developed, so we spent the rest of her visit taking it easy (while I worked on the model of the set for Cabaret). I'd booked Monday off on vacation and spent the day working on the set model while mom alternately napped and watched movies. (It turned out to be a pretty full and productive day for me, but I'm still feeling the pressure to finish the set for Thursday's production meeting.) Mom headed home that evening and I went to rehearsal. I'm glad she came to visit, but sorry that she wasn't feeling well. Hopefully next time she comes down, she'll feel better!
