Wednesday, May 09, 2007 I've been slack.... Things have been crazy busy - let's see if I can sum up... Friday night we had rehearsal and then a few of us headed to the Blue Olive, as Kizzy was singing with the house band. I hadn't had time for supper so I was happy to get there and order food while the kitchen was still open. I had the souvlaki pita and it was awesome, mostly because of their amazing tatziki sauce. I didn't stay late - leaving just after Bamboleo, and headed home to work a bit on the computer for Cabaret stuff. Saturday I picked up some much-needed groceries in the morning and then spent the afternoon at rehearsal. We ran the first half of the show, which is coming along nicely, although we're at the point where we really do need to kick it up another nootch and make sure we don't get complacent. After rehearsal, I headed home for a power-nap and some guacamole-making (see recipe below) and I wound up dealing with Cabaret emails and the next thing I knew, it was almost 9 pm, so I headed over to Scott & Alison's for their annual Cinquo de Mayo party. It was a great party - fantastic food and company! I left relatively eary (1:30 AM) knowing how busy Sunday would be. Of course I slept in on Sunday. I could have lalligagged in bed all day but I had errands to run and Cabaret stuff to attend to. The afternoon flew by and the next thing I knew, I was headed over to the very neat rehearsal hall at the Germain Street Baptist Church for the cast's singalong with the band. Man - it sounds so great when it all gets put together. We were able to let folks head home as they finished their bits, and I was happy to get home at 8 PM. I took the evening off and caught up on Grey's Anatomy. Monday was a busy day at work followed by our opportunity to run the second half of the show. It's been great to have Darik come in and help get the lighting design started early, as we are going to have a bit of a cue-heavy show. Man, it's going to look awesome!! Tuesday was another busy day at work (segmented by a frustrating outing to get my tires changed). I was having one of those days when small things kept going wrong, but all I could do was laugh about it. It really was just one thing after another - ask Alex - he witnessed a handful of things in the first 15 minutes I talked to him that evening. Anyway - that evening, Alex and Stephen and I headed up to Fredericton to promote Cabaret on Trevor Doyle Live. I think it went OK, but I am also very good at picking myself apart after such things. No matter, it was a fun diversion and a welcome break from pouring over the script and my laptop (as much as I still love my laptop). Also, I was happy to get a Venti Soy Tazo Chi Latte from Starbucks for the drive home, which made everything better. It was 11°C in Saint John and 29°C in Fredericton and I felt like I was vacationing in the tropics. Of course, it also helped that I made a point of listening to salsa music on the way home! When I got back into town, after dropping Alex off at work and Stephen off at home, I stopped down at Churchills and caught up with Kizzy and Graham over a So here we are, a mere week before our first audience for the show, and I am SO glad I took Andrea C's advice to book next Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday off work so I could focus on getting the show running smoothly. Besdes the general good buzz that is surrounding this production, I'm starting to get really excited about things coming together as we move into the Imperial on Sunday!!! Posted by Dre at 8:04 AM |
