A. It has been a few years. That being said, I've recently had a filling fall out, and I need 3 extra new fillings due to the decalcification on my teeth from the braces that I had 20 years ago that were on too long. Not cavities, just a breakdown of the enamel. And that's with very good oral hygene!

Rent, only because I have to physically write a cheque and bring it to them each month.

Romantic dinner? Closest would be a fantastic meal with the always enjoyable company of my friend Chad.

I did it once - on my 18th birthday (which is - or at least was - legal drinking age in Manitoba).

I have not done that and I have no plans to.

I do not remember.

Vacationing in Scotland.

The Weekend That Was
Friday night was rehearsal, followed by a few beers (& rusty nails) at Churchills. Saturday was groceries then rehearsal then girls night out at Kristi's. I had a great time, but wasn't up for heading out, so I went home instead. Ahh - blessed sleep! Sunday was our first day off-book and the first full run of the show, with crew invited. It took longer than we'd anticipated, but I think it went really well. After that, a quick burger at Churchills and then off to Jay M's for our Serenity RPG. I was thankful that my character is impulsive and overconfident and naieve, because I don't think I would have had the brain power for much more than that. As usual, it was a fun & relaxing game and it allowed me to think about something other than Cabaret for a few hours.

A New Addiction
OK, I admit I may have a slight addiction to Facebook. It's awesome - it's like a giant watercooler where I can get regular updates from friends from all over, and it has alowed me to re-connect with a few folks that I haven't talked to since high school & university.
It doesn't mean that I will slack off on this blogging though. I still intend to update 5 days/week. I've just been busy and haven't felt like there has been much to talk about other than the fact that I've been busy with rehearsals.
In other news, I had my first dental appoinment in 4 years. I hadn't realized that I'd left it that long. Oops. The only reason I made the appoinment is because of a cracked filling. That, in a nutshell is about the height of my exciting non-work, non-theatre life. :-) At least for today.

The Weekend That Flew By
I took Friday afternoon off so that I could head up to Fredericton to get my passport processed. Thankfully it wasn't snowing as badly as the forecast had predicted. By the time I got back to Saint John, I was pretty tired, so I took a nap and woke up just as I should have been at rehearsal, so I rushed over. Rehearsal went well, and after that we had a cast and crew karaoke party at the Somerset Pub. It was nice to see so many people turn out for it!
Saturday morning Jay and Lisa M stopped by so that Lisa could borrow my sewing machine. We then decided to do breakfast at Reggies and when we were done that, I headed over to the rehearsal space to tape out the rehearsal area. I finished just as rehearsal got started. We worked through the first half of the show. It's the first time we've tried the transitions and singing and dancing and acting all together. Once that was done, I stuck around to help the Kit Kat girls out as they worked on a couple of their dances. By the time we were done, it was after 5. Lisa F and I went and checked out Sense of Tokyo, the new Japanese restaurant on Waterloo Street, which was fantastic!! After that, I deserved a quiet evening in.
Sunday we had another afternoon rehearsal where we worked through the second half of the play, which needs a lot more work than the first half. We finished rehearsal and then I finally got a chance to finish taping out the rehearsal space and organizing the space and props (please folks, use the recycling bag for beverage containers and the garbage bag for your garbage! There was a ton of stuff to clean up.) and after that, Stephen and Sandra and I had a little production meeting at the Tim Horton's on King Street. By the time we were done, it was 5 PM. I then headed home to deal with emails about the show, and when Lisa F called at 8:30 to see if I wanted to go see a movie, I welcomed the break.
So I headed out to see Pathfinder with Lisa and Anthony and Sabine. The movie was... entertaining. Nothing historically accurate about it, but I thought the style of things like the pod-shaped homes and the costuming were pretty cool. Also, it was supposed to be the east coast but it looked like BC, even if the scenery was beautiful. Not much talking in this film, and what was done in English seemed so painfully modern in comparison to the time period that it was supposed to be set in. Lots of violence, I think they pretty much managed to depict every type of torture/death possible for the "evil" Vikings to use on their victims. The good news? Karl Urban, of course (hello chaps and loin cloth combo!) and the tobogganing chase scene, and a few other unintended funny moments, as well as a hefty dose of action. I needed the mental break and I'm glad I saw it.

Just Thinking...
Every once in a while I have to stop and remind myself to stop worrrying about things that are coming up and just deal with what is on my plate at the moment. I've been having one of those
As I type this under the glow of the screen on my laptop, I've noticed how the light hits my hand and has made them look old and foreign. How odd. Yet how neat. They look like somebody else's much older hands. It makes me think of self-perception. Inside, I feel the same (in some ways) as I did 10 years ago, but on the outside, do I really look so different? No doubt I do. And maybe that's not such a bad thing.

A Belated Hoppy Easter
Despite the snow and windchill, it was still a lovely Easter. Mostly because it was quiet, and I avoided all work. OK, i did clean my apartment and get groceries. But I took a break from working on the show and I did whack things like take naps and play with my cats and watch TV.
And I did take a break on Monday night as well. Thanks to Jay M for hosting an awesome 1st episode of our Serenity Role Playing Game. There were some pretty funny and creative moments and I can't wait for the rest of the team to join in. It's a refreshing change from D&D. The gameplay, characters and storyline are all so different.
Yep, I'm back in the groove now. Back to emails and organization and lists. Yee-haw.

In Rehearsal
It's a busy month of rehearsals (choreography/music/acting) and along with that, I'm still thinking about the set design. The basic concept is fine, but the details cannot be firmed up until we get a couple of answers from some outside sources. I hope to get it done soon - I know the set construction crew is chopming at the bit to get started, and frankly, I just want it off my plate so I can focus a bit more on the stage management side of things.

A Much-Needed Weekend
Friday night I unwound with a few women from work. Man, those Cosmopolitans from the Hilton lounge are powerful. As they headed out to dinner, I stopped at home to feed the cats and grab a quick bite to eat before heading to The Blue Olive to hang out with Kizzy and listen to Bruce Guthro, who was here for the Saint John Folk Festival. I can see why Kizzy's a fan - he's got a wonderful voice and is a great story-teller. It as a funand full and late night. I felt like I was on vacation, which was just what I needed after a long hard week at work.
Saturday afternoon we managed to roughly block the rest of Act 1. After that, I stopped home to nap and then forced myself to wake up and go check out "An Evening of Harold". It was pretty funny. I'm not sure I liked the long-form improv as much as the regular skits. Kudos to the folks involved though - they were pretty damn funny. I just can't think on my feet like that - I need time to process things.
Sunday was more Cabaret rehearsals while I worked on production stuff, and then the evening was spent playing Dungeons and Dragons out at Jay M's. It was a fun session! I got hoem with enough time to watch another episode of Grey's Anatomy before hittting the hay. OK - I probably should have just gone straight to bed, but that show is just so good!
