Monday, August 24, 2009 This Autumn will fly by So I've agreed to Stage Manage Jekyll & Hyde (at the Imperial Theatre November 19 - 21) and Graham is directing, so it should be a pretty fun ride. Unfortunately, it means that my free time is now limited, and I've had to postpone plans to make the elaborate and detailed version of the Queen Narissa from Enchanted costume that I wanted to make for myself for Halloween. I'm trying to do my best to complete some long-standing unfinished projects as well. I have another 18 - 20 hours of knitting to do to finish the entrelac wrap that I'm making for my Aunt Jessie, and then I'll need to send a few evenings weaving all of the ends in. I have unfinished paintings for Jay and Lisa that were meant to be 2008 Christmas gifts, and I have 3 more hand-crafted items to make that I have promised to friends within the calendar year. So I spent the bulk of my weekend knitting (which I can at least do while hanging with friends and watching movies) and my Sunday evening prepping my Stage Manager's script and getting some other things started as I begin to prepare for auditions and then rehearsals. My day started out on a great note as well, as Mare and Sabine and I had a very successful trip to Cricket Cove in Black's Harbour to do a wee bit-o-yarn-shopping. I really had fun doing Kristi's makeup and her mom's makeup, as well as makeup for a couple of the bridesmaids. I was nervous about it, as I wanted it to be perfect. Thankfully they seemed to be pretty happy with how it turned out. The service was thankfully succinct and the vows were touching. The after party was great, and Bob was a wonderful MC. The old one was a very heavy window, made with pebbled glass that had chicken wire in it. I felt secure and I had my privacy, as the window looks directly onto the fire escape. The new window is lovely but I was missing my privacy, especially as I went to feed my cats at 6:30 AM in my skivvies and saw my neighbor - on their way to take out their garbage - peeking in. So, in lieu of classic adhesive Mactac, I found some great non-adhesive vinyl options at the Home Depot. My friend Jay helped me decide on this one with the pattern, and I'm very happy with my purchase. Not to mention that it was super easy to install!
