Halloween Friday Five

1. What was your first Halloween costume?
I was a gold and brown clown when I was 3 years old (yes, it was the early '70's).

2. What was your best costume and why?
Wonder Woman or Slave Princess Leia. I made them both from scratch and tried to keep them as realistic as possible.

3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat?
No.

4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.)
We used to carve pumpkins and roast the seeds.

5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend!
Uh....losing all the files on my computer

Happy Halloween

Well, I spent the evening running around and didn't manage to work on my cape. I was pretty tired, so I went to bed early. I guess I'll have to do it after work tonight.

I've got a busy day at work today, so I'd better get back to it.

Signs that you are living in 2003:

A friend emailed this list to me and I can't resist including it here:

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.
2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.
3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.
4. You e-mail your friend who works at the desk next to you.
5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends is that they do not have e-mail addresses.
6. When you go home after a long day at work you still answer the phone in a business manner.
7. When you make phone calls from home, you accidentally dial "9" to get an outside line.
8. You've sat at the same desk for four years and worked for three different companies.
9. Contractors outnumber permanent staff and are more likely to get long-service awards.
10. You read this entire list, and kept nodding and smiling.

The Sun!

I've lost track of how many rainy days we've had in the last month. It's getting depressing. But not today. The sun is out! Yay!! The other good news is that it's supposed to be nice this weekend. That'll make things SO much more pleasant as we all run around in our Halloween costumes!

The acting workshop went well last night. After an especially long day at work, I wasn't sure if I was up for it - I was tense and tired. It was interesting to watch all the different scenes and learn where and how improvements could be made. I'm looking forward to getting together with Martine this weekend so we can work on our scene.

The new Fabricville is AWESOME

When I walked in, I felt as though I'd stepped out of Saint John and into another world. They now carry a much larger selection of fabrics and notions. They now carry items I was looking for last year, that I couldn't find. The reason I went was to get fabric for a cape for my Wonder Woman costume. I managed to find some blue satin for a good price, and I did start on the cape last night. I'll finish it up on Thursday. I did pick up a couple of extra patterns while I was there too... ones that I'd been eyeing for the last year or so, and were on sale. Then it's just a matter of making the time to sew those things!

It'll be a busy day at work today. I'm supposed to be on a conference call for most of the day. And even without that, I still hhave a lot on my plate at the moment.

I'm looking forward to the acting workshop tonight. We'll be doing the first readings of our scene scripts. I've done my homework and gone over it a number of times, but I still don't feel prepared enough. I suppose it's normal that I'd put a lot of pressure on myself though. I'm also looking forward to hearing the other scenes, which are all from plays that I'm not familiar with.

The Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect looks like it's going to be an interesting movie. The concept is compelling.

Not much going on…

I did manage to avoid turning the PS2 on last night. It was a mellow evening. Scott dropped by with dollar store gifts. It is his tradition to get a little something for all of his friends whenever he goes away. I got a glitter star wand, (doesn't everyone need one?) some roll-on glitter that smells faintly of cotton candy (or piña coladas - I'm not realy sure which), and another small Star Wars book. Speaking of Star Wars, I hate that they changed their official site. Now if you want to check most things out, you need a "Hyperspace" membership for about $20 US a year. Sheesh!

I spent most of my evening reading the script for Top Girls and answering questions about my character for the scene we'll be reading at Wednesday's workshop. I even made it an early night.

Things are pretty busy at work this week, which is good. I like to be busy at work.

Relaxing weekend

I took the weekend off. It's been the first weekend in a long while where I haven't had plans to get a bunch of stuff done. It was great!

Friday evening, I played SSX 3 until Lisa came over. We read Proof, which is such a great script. Then, we watched A Streetcar Named Desire. Lisa had never seen it before. After this, we played SSX 3 until about 2 AM, I think.

Saturday, I slept in and then playes SSX 3 for about 10 hours. I then chatted on the phone with my aunt Jessie for a good bit, and then read for a bit before I hit the hay. All that gaming wore me out! LOL

Sunday I gamed until 1:30, then picked Lisa up and we went to see Intolerable Cruelty. I enjoyed it, even though there were a few weird parts, and some stuff was awfully cliché, but then I suppose that is half the fun of it. After the movie I gamed for a bit more and had a bite to eat, then Robyn and I went to see the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada's Merlin at the Imperial. That was quite enjoyable, and certainly a nice way to spend a Sunday evening.

Now that the weekend is over, I need to make a concerted effort to avoid gaming and get a few things done!

Hooked on SSX 3

So I splurged once again, and treated myself to the new SSX 3 for PS2. I did manage to take a break to go see School of Rock, which I really enjoyed. Then back to gaming. I had to force myself to stop at about 1 AM so I could get some sleep and make it in to work today.

Creativity pleases my soul

Last night was the first evening of the acting workshops. Despite the fact that it was FREEZING in the loft, I had a great time. It was a good start, and I'm looking forward to putting things into practice. We were given scenes to get to know for next week, and I can't wait to dive into it and do my homework. :-)

After the workshop, Scott, Lisa and I headed back to Lisa and Anthony's. Anthony was hosting a fooseball tournament. I got to meet his friend Randy and Randy's girlfriend Vanessa, who are visiting from Toronto and seem very nice. I hung out for a bit, then went home, while they all took off to Chez Cherie. It was almost midnight by the time I got home and I know I should have just gone straight to bed, but I couldn't not pick up the script that I was given. Wow. Awesome! That's about all I can say. Awesome.

So after staying up past my bedtime last night, I had a bit of trouble getting up this morning. Yarr. It's been a busy work day, which is always a treat. I'd rather be busy than not. Scott and I came up with a great idea for another play, while chatting on MSN. I can't wait to see what he comes up with!

It looks like it'll be a fairly quiet evening. Maybe now I'll finally get a chance to check out School of Rock. And perhaps I'll be able to get a little bit of work done on my portfolio, or do a bit of gaming, or read, or work on my scene...

It was a fun evening!

I had just enough time to grab a couple of pieces of toast for supper between getting home from the gym and heading out to a SJTC Second Stage event. It was called "15 Minutes of Fame" and it was a chance to pair up with someone and take 10 minutes to review a short script before performing it in front of the group. What a blast. About 30 people showed up, and most of them performed. Anthony and I got to act together for the first time. Our script seemd pretty lame at first - it was a cliché about a couple at a fast-food restaurant, and it started off with the woman asking her boyfriend if he thinks she's fat. We decided to have a bit of fun with it and switch the characters, so it was Anthony's character who was asking if his girlfriend thought he was fat. We got some good laughs. Most of the scripts were very funny. There were a few serious ones in the mix as well. After it was done, a few of us headed over to Melvins for a couple of drinks. Then Scott popped by to help fix the CD burner he sold to me. All-in-all it was a great evening!

Tonight I'm looking forward to the first night of the Second Stage acting workshop. :-)

Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

That's right, it's pouring and it is quite dark out. I didn't feel up to braving the elements to walk home for lunch. I figured it'd be much easier to run over to the market and get a nice warm bowl of wonton soup from Slocum and Ferris. So I hopped on the elevator to head down to the second level of the mall and take the passage through to the market. The elevator stopped momentaily on the third level, and as the doors opened they revealed a horrific sight to my eyes: a Chritsmas display. I wasn't prepared for it. It's not even Halloween yet for crying out loud. Can we at least wait until November before we start with that stuff? At least? Sigh. On a good note, there was a very nice Jazz band playing at the market over the lunch hour; The Peters Drury Trio will be at the Imperial theatre tomorrow night. Even though I didn't have time to stick around, it was still a nice little treat for the ears.

Frustrating

Jak II is a lot harder than the original one. Stumped at level 3 already. Not a happy camper. Too hard. Anthony and I played for a bit then gave it up. I spent the latter half of my evening reading. By the way, Scott, thanks for the apple pie.

Jak II for PS2

I am looking forward to picking up Jak II. It's out now and Tom picked up a copy for himself and spent the weekend playing it. Since the original Jak and Daxter is one of my favourite games, I'm sure I'll enjoy this one which is supposed to be even better!

UPDATE: I got it. Why wait? I guess I know what I'll be doing tonight! :-D

Sunday

I felt rushed on Sunday. Lisa, Anthony and I were still in Halifax and we had a fair amount of things we wanted to do on our way home. I woke them up mid-morning (again - too early for their liking) and after another big breakfast prepared by mom and dad, we hit the road. Our first stop was at Mastadon Ridge in Stewiak (which also happens to be at the 1/2 way point between the North Pole and the Equator). The mastadon was fenced off, and the mini-putt course next to it was shut down for the season. It looked pretty sad. Next stop was the giant blueberry at the Irving on the way to Oxford, NS. Odd that it has 2 faces - one on each side of it's giant blueberry body. After this pit-stop, we headed to Springfield to check out the Ann Murray museum which was closed. Anthony was pretty dissapointed as he was hoping to get a photo of him with the life-size carboard standee of Ann herself. I'm sure there will be other times, Anthony. We then headed to Moncton and spent a bit of time in Champlain Place and Chapters. I have to admit, I have a bit of a soft spot for the clothing store RW & Co. (I wish they had one in Saint John). They make clothes that actually fit a woman - pants that have a waist - and that are long enough for me. I think most stores make clothes for stick women who have no hips, waist or bust (and who are 5'8" or under).

By the way, Anthony has photos from the weekend posted on his site.

We made it home around supper time, and after I made some pasta for myself (and watched Inside The Actor's Studio), I took a nice little nap. I then flipped channels for a bit and checked my email and Messenger to chat breifly with a couple of friends. I was in the mood to read, so by 9 PM, I found myself in bed with a few good books. That's right. I read more than one book at once. I have a stack of them next to my bed. Sometimes I pick one book for the evening, but last night I read from a few of them: Audition by Michael Shurtleff, A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson, and The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber.

Saturday in Halifax

Lisa and Anthony came with me to Halifax this weekend. We left Friday after work, and didn't get in to Halifax until after 11. I think we were all pretty tired - and poor Lisa had a pretty bad cold.

We got up mid-morning on Saturday (which was late for me but early for Lisa and Anthony). After dad made a big breakfast for us, we headed out in the cold and rain to run some errands. First stop was Mic Mac Mall so I could return a duvet cover and pillow shams to The Bay. We also made a point of stopping at the drug store to get kleenex with lotion for Lisa. Poor thing. A visit to Toys'r'us was great. We got our photos taken with Clifford the big red dog and Elmo. Also, Lisa and I spent some time checking out all the Bratz stuff. I wish they had that stuff when I was a kid. It's pretty stylin'! We aso spent a good whle in the Disney store. They have fabulous costumes for kids (I kind of wish they made them for adults too)! Anthony found a very nifty stuffed animal: a hand puppet of the mean shark from finding Nemo. It was pretty cool. Lots more running around brought us out to Chapters, The Halifax Shopping Center, and to Bayers Lake twice. I finally found a duvet cover I'm satisfied with. Yay!

After dinner with the folks, we rushed back out to Bayers Lake to meet up with Sue and Jedd to see Lost in Translation which we all really enjoyed. It was a very intelligent movie. Too bad it's not playing in Saint John.

We then went for coffee and met up with Renny, who had our tickets for the Rocky Horror Show at Neptune Theatre. We headed out to see the special midnight showing. Lots of people were dressed up for it, and they were even selling packs of participation items in the lobby. Each pack (about $4) contained a tiny water gun with some water in it, some rice, some croutons (toast), a tiny flashlight (with "The Rocky Horror Show" printed on it), and red candy lips (mmm... cinnamon!). Our seats were in the 5th row of the balcony, and we couldn't really see the front part of the stage, which kind of sucked. It might have been easier to see if the folks in the front row of the balcony weren't leaning way forward for the whole show. Also, the audience had a tendancy to keep yelling things at the actors every tie they spoke, and throughout their entire speeches, so I couldn't hear most of the dialogue. I found that to be extremely frustrating. As for the show itself, I thought the singing, dancing and set design were great. I am glad I got to see it (although an afternoon matinee with a more tame audience might have been a bit less bothersome to me).

This week is flying by!

So I rented Bulletproof Monk last night and put it on while I fixed up some digital photos of artwork for my portfolio. It wasn't very good, and it certainly wouldn't have held my interest if I was just sitting there watching it. After that, I watched The Bachelor and then Angel, which were both highly entertaining in thier own ways.

So I got in touch with Renny, and we've got tickets to see the midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Show at Neptune Theatre this weekend. I'm really looking forward to it!!

Hmm...

The commeting system isn't working again. That's pretty frustrating. I hope it's back up and running soon. I had a great nap at lunch. That's one of the reasons I'm thankful for living so close to work. I love being able to go home and unwind for a bit and get revitalised for the afternoon.

OK... it's looking pretty cruddy out, and I don't think I want to be out and about in the cold, wind and rain this evening. I'll catch School of Rock another time. Maybe this evening will be a good time to get a bit of work done on my portfolio.

Mid-week already

Yay! I came in this morning to find my connection to the outside world working properly again! Today I will be helping the developers out by doing a bit of HTML building. The work day will go quickly if I'm busy.

I think I'll head to the gym again today - at least to get some cardio in. Another friend of mine has just joined Nubody's. It seems as though I have quite a few friends and co-workers going there now. I hope that the company I work for will soon realise how many of it's employees are Nubody's members. It'd be nice to be able to get a corporate discount.

I'd like to check out School of Rock this evening. I've heard so many good things about it. Anyone interested in coming along?

Another mellow evening...

My afternoon didn't go too much better today. By the end of the work day, I was on the phone with one person trying to figure out why my ADSL wasn't working, and there was a technician under my desk, looking (and sounding) bewildered.

After a trip to the gym, I headed over to Vito's to meet the rest of the gals from the Makeup crew for a lovely dinner. They're such good people, and it'll be a while before I see a lot of them again.

Hmm... perhaps I'll edit a couple of digital photos, and then read for a bit before I hit the hay.

Yarr

I got into work this morning and my internet and email aren't working on my mac. Also - my phone only sometimes works. Right now I'm on the PC (sitting next to my Mac workstation) - all I have on this is email and internet.

I'm looking forward to having lunch with Chris. I haven't seen him in a while. He took his family up to their cottage for Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Lucky guy.

A Mellow Afternoon and Evening

I finally got around to cleaning my apartment. With being busy from the show, things were starting to pile up. Now that it's clean, I feel as though I can relax again! After I cleaned, I decided to go see Under the Tuscan Sun. It was enjoyable - actually a bit better than I thought it would be. A good "chick flick". I don't mind those now and then, and thankfully this one wasn't too fluffy.

This evening, I've been relaxing and flipping channels. I had reheated leftovers from Lisa's mom's Thanksgiving stuff for supper. Oh, and Scott stopped by with a truely awesome gift - a Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina Scratch and Sniff book, by Golden Books. You can scratch and sniff things like Wooky, Greedo's breath, and Jabba the Hut. It's quite the book!

It's been a busy weekend

Friday was great! It was quiet and mellow at work. I met up with my friends John and Melanie for lunch, and they gave me some Drambuie and a lovely bottle of red wine for my birthday. It was nice to see them, as it's been a while.

After work, it was a bit of a rush to get to the Imperial, so I grabbed some apple crumble and brought it with me so I could at least have something to eat (as tasty as it was, it may not have been the best choice for supper). The rest of the makeup crew surprised me with a cake and card (and singing Happy Birthday). Then a little while later, while doing their vocal warmups, Harry Cross got the cast to sing an amazing rendition of Happy Birthday to me - with harmony and everything. It was amazing! A lot of folks seemed surprised that I'd be working on the show on my birthday, but I don't consider that stuff work at all - it's fun, social, and creative. All the folks involved in the production are so friendly!

After the show, the cast and crew went out to the Somerset Pub for a couple of drinks. Anthony even came out and met us for a little bit. Lisa, Anthony and I didn't stay too late though, as we were pretty tired. Thanks to everyone for making my birthday so great!

I got up nice and early Saturday morning and gave Anthony a lift out to his office so he could put together the music for the cast party. He treated me to a tasty Sweet Onion and Chicken Terryaki sub from Subway on the way over. Man, those are tasty. I needed a proper meal, as it was going to be a long day.

I made it to the Imperial by about 11:15. Thank goodness I found my smock so I wouldn't get any more of my clothes covered in makeup. I don't know how I manage to get it all over me - I guess I just really get into my work! It's an interesting thing, putting makeup on people - working in thier personal space and on their faces. Stage makeup is so different from regular makeup too. I bet the cast was pleased that it was the last day they'd have to endure the over-dramatized looks.

Marzenna, Pam, Guila and I took a quick trip out to KFC for supper. I don't think I've eaten at a KFC since the '80's! By 5:30, we were back at the Imperial doing makeup for the evening performance. Paula put my hair in rollers so I could have fancy hair for the cast party (I felt like an 19060's-style alien - and looked like I could pick up shortwave radio). After the show, we packed everything up and got ready for the cast party. I came home and had a half hour nap, then threw on a dressy top, jean skirt and some fun dancing shoes. I'd been wearing flats all week so I could do makeup - but I find it much easier to dance in heels. :-)

The cast party was good. The presentations didn't take too long - and they'd come up with a great idea of giving little personalized awards to everyone. Pretty much everyone was up dancing after that. We did have one unfortnate thing happen - and that was that one of our guests, as he was leaving, fell down part of a flight of stairs and I think he hit his head on the cememnt floor. We called an ambulance, and they came and checked him out, and I think he was pretty much OK, but his blood suger had really dropped, so they decided to take him to the hospital to make sure he was OK anyway. Poor guy, I hope he's OK now. After all that, a lot of people left. Towards the end of the night, there were just a few of us sitting around telling stories. I think Lisa and I left around 6:45 AM. I was still wide awake, but I knew I'd be tired the next day so I thought I should at leasst try to get some sleep.

I woke up at 1:30 PM on Sunday. I did a bit of tidying - since I'd had such a busy week, I'd only really been home to drop things off, get changed, and run back out. I also went out and picked up a few much-needed groceries. I picked up Lisa and Anthony at about 5 and we headed out to Lisa's mom's for Thanksgiving dinner. It was so tasty - and I think I ate too much - but I couldn't help myself! Lisa's mom even gave us take-home meals so we could have leftovers today! Yum!! Thanks so much to Lisa's mom for everything!

Lisa, Anthony gave me my belated birthday gifts: an Aragorn action figure and an electronic Middle Earth sword from Lord of the Rings. I love that my friends buy me toys for my birthday! We then decided to go see Kill Bill Vol. 1. I really enjoyed it. It was pretty much what I'd expected. It was extremely violent, but it was done in the style of anime. Stylistically it was phenominal. Uma did a great job (and Lucy Liu made a convincing villanesse). It is pretty frustrating that Mirimax Films felt that they had to break the movie up into two parts because it was too long. I would have been happy to watch the entire thing in one sitting.

I slept in a bit today and watched a few home re-decorating shows. I really enjoy Divine Design with Candace Olson. And as for Debbie Travis or the Decorating Challenge folks, I don't think I'd ever let them anywhere near my house!

Now that I've managed my lengthy update, I think I might putter around for a bit, andmaybe go see another movie. There are lots of movies out at the moment that I'd like to see. It feels weird having free time again!!

Opening Night for Guys and Dolls

Last night was great - busy and fun. We did the full dress rehearsal - and makeup for everyone. The makeup crew popped upstairs a couple of quick times to catch a couple of the numbers (and check out the makeup). I'm so impressed by how well it's all coming together.

I woke up this morning feeling pretty run down. I think I have a bit of a cold. Sigh. Bad timing. Ah well. At least it's not a flu. Speaking of which, I ran over to my doctor's this morning to get my flu shot. Yee haw. I was so thankful for it last winter - a couple of really bad flu's went through my office and I didn't get them - and I normally would have.

Well, tonight should be fun. There'll be a whole lto of extra energy knowing that we have a nearly full house. To everyone in the show - break a leg!

Gearing Up

Yesterday went rather well, and I managed to just have time for everything. I had a tasty wrap from Sagratti's for lunch, while sitting at my desk, and mid-afternoon I ran over to the gym to squeeze my workout in. I even had time to make a proper supper for myself (grilled chicken, sweet potaoes, brussel sprouts and salad) before running over to the Imperial for 5:30 PM.

We got makeup on a few of the actors and then we watched the show as they were working on it. It was great! Kudos to all the actors and other crews that have been working hard to pull it together. That's the only chance I'll have to see the show. For the rest of the week, I'll be downstairs in the makeup and hair room. Tonight is the full dress rehearsal, and tomorrow (Thursday) is opening night. I know the rest of the week is going to fly by. No doubt I'll soon be living on food from Subway, as I won't have time to prepare proper meals for myself - but it's all worth it. :-)

Only 72 days until ROTK

Thanks to Scott for stopping by and dropping off thoughtful Birthday gifts. Scott gave me a very cool WonderWoman lunchbox and a CD of a favourite vinyl of mine, Abandoned Luncheonette by Hall & Oates.

I headed over to the Imperial Theatre to meet up with Marzenna and work through the schedule for the actors to get their hair and makeup done before and during each show for Guys and Dolls. I then spent a bit of time upstairs visiting Lisa in between her duties to set up props. I don't envy her a bit. That's a big job for this show and they're a very busy crew!

Matchbox 20 rocked

The show was great Friday night. The band was entertaining - and they actually sounded very good - AND not too loud! The light show was excellent, and the stage setup looked very modern. I'm glad I went (thanks, Renny)!

Saturday morning I took my dad shopping for his birthday gift., I got him a set of fireplace tools that look like brushed pewter. My folks gave me my birthday gifts early - hand knit socks by mom, new black cloth napkins, a cool set of cordial glasses from The Bombay Company, and a duvet. I spent the early afternoon shopping with my mom for a duvet cover. I finally found oue at the Bay - it looked like light blue suede. I also got the pillow shams to go with it, even though they were $40 apiece. We then drove to the airport and picked up my cousin Jennifer and her husband Bill. We had a lovely supper, and I had planned to go to a Rock Review with Renny later inthe evening, but I got really sick. I am positive it was from drinking wine. I didn't even have much, but boy was I sick. So, instead of going out, I went to bed. But I was up sick many times through the night. I felt fine by morning - except I was tired, and my back was sore. After an early breakfast, I headed out to visit Sue and Jed. It was great to see them - I can't wait to spend more time with them next time I visit!

I made it back to Saint John in time for the meeting at the Imperial Theatre for Guys and Dolls (which I'm doing makeup on) We set things up and I was home by 9 PM. Exhausted, aching back and hungry. I tried to look at my site, but I can't seem to access it. Yarr. So I shut the computer off and decided to put the new cover on my new duvet and see how it all looked. Terrible. it looked terrible. What was supposed to look like suede looked like cheap polyester. and the expensive pillow shams were saggy. so I packed everything back up and I'm going to return it all. Crappy. I do love my new duvet - I just need to find a decent cover for it. Some day I will.

Well, I still can't see my site from any of my own computers and I'm not sure what's wrong with it. I don't really have time to fuss with it though. Also, my back is still really sore. I'm taking Robaxacet for it, but it's making me really drowsy, so I'm finding it hard to function. Yarr....

Yay! It's Friday!

I went to a seminar last night for New Registrant for GST/HST, Hosted by Canada Customs and Revenue. It was about an hour and a half long and the one thing I got out of it was what info I need to include on my invoices. I'm hoping to have the studioDRE website up by the end of the month.... but I digress.

It was another quiet night. Probably for the best as I was in a bit of a snarky mood yesterday. (Yarr!) I'm looking forward to the weekend. My cousin Jennifer and her new husband will be visiting the east coast. It'll be nice to see her. It's been a few years. I'm also looking forward to next week - working on the makeup crew for Guys and Dolls. It'll be very busy, but also a whole lotta fun!

Busy weekend

I talked to Renny and he's trying to get me a ticket to see Matchbox 20 tomorrow night in Halifax. That'll be awesome! So I've got to re-schedule visiting Sue and Jed for Sunday morning. There's never enough time when I visit....

While I was chatting with him, I mentioned that I'd also like to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Neptune Theatre and that I'd heard it was really good. He said his sister works there and that he'll get tickets for us for that. So I'm hoping he can get tickets for the 18th (the show only runs until the 19th).

Poor Renny. Luckily his house didn't get hit by any trees after hurricane Juan, but a few did fall, just missing it by a few feet. His brother managed to find someone who was selling a generator in Dieppe, so they broke down and bought one. Without electricity they have no water, since they live out in the country and use a well. Also, they have a couple of large freezers full of food that they couldn't afford to lose.

Taking it easy

Well, at least I have some stuff to keep me busy at work now so my days don't seem so slow... no doubt I'll be busy as all-get-out later this autumn.

I had another relaxing evening. I did a bit of reading, and made a point of watching the first episode of Angel, which is now in it's 5th season. Can you believe it? Where does the time go? It feels as though it just started maybe 2 seasons ago. Anyway, the new season looks like it'll be a good one. I'm glad Spike is in it. He should add a good amount of dark comedy.

Midweek

I had a mellow evening last night. I nice long nap, flipping channels for a while and some reading. It's been a long while since I've taken an entire evening to just relax.

Things are busy at work today, which is a bit or a treat. I'm looking forward to a mini-manicure and pedicure at lunch with Melanie. I might jsut have another mellow evening tonight. I don't feel like working on my portfolio section of the site. I'll be busy from Friday through to the 12th or 13th, so I'll just get back to working on it then.
